Arteta/Lescott

As you may know a story has been put around the Liverpool print media. It speculates that Manchester City have been active as regards two Everton players, Possibly we have bid £25m for Arteta/Lescott.

Because it has caused surprise amongst the Toffee fans, I though I'd give you a flavour of the reaction.

Just me who thinks we dont need Arteta. Cant see where he would fit into our midfield/ who he would replace. Lescott however, I would definitley take.

I agree entirely, I'd rather not give Everton enough money to buy 5 quality players for someone who won't improve much on what we have.

I can only see Arteta or Cahill being bid for if Elano is on his way out.

Hopefully and for every possible reason - Elano is staying.

Arteta is a non-starter surely? - out with a knee injury 'until the start of next season at least'

also is he any better than Elano? More consistent perhaps but not better.

Lescott I would defiitely take, would be an excellent signing.

This one is picking up some momentum a few respected itk's seem to know about this deal and apparently lescott being offered same terms as barry!

Even though i rate Arteta an he's premiership proven the deal is a no brainer for now!! January maybe Hes injured till after the start of the season an theres no guarantee when he returns he'll be as affective. Lescott however is class. id put him in the same bracket as terry, ferdinand can also play left back. An scores a few.I think everton would want nearer 15-20 mill for him alone. Taking in to account everton may not want to let him go as the defensive pairing of him an jagielka are 1 of the most solid and consistent in the league. A combined deal for both lescott and arteta could cost 30mill + although jo could be used as part of any deal.while on the subject of everton> Only hes picked up a long term injury id have liked us to go for jagielka most improved prem defender for me.

Would go for Lescott and Cahill. Although a few years ago these would not even come into my considerations think we need players in the squad who maybe a little un fashionable but deliver week in week out and give 100%!
