If you were England manager would you try and persuade him to play for England? Saying that, would he want to play for England?

Dont see where he would fit in mate England have some Quality midfiedlers and id say he would want to play for spain anyway

If he hasn't been capped for Spain, with residency here in the UK he may now qualify for England, so I would say yes and see if he is prepared to play. Moyes wouldn't be happy being Scottish though, so he may try and get him to opt for Scotland instead.

I think Arteta could play in the Six Nations for Scotland. Every Tom, Dick and Maori seems to end up having a Scottish grandma. 'Spect Mikael has one too.

One of the best midfielders in the Premiership, City should go for him in summer. I'd rather see him play for Scotland being scottish, but why would England not want him, fair enough he may no get a game over Lamps and Gerrard but what a sub to have, all the good nations have Foreigners playing for them. How many Africans did france have in there day, and Brazilians in the Portugal squad.
Take advantage of the rules when you can. Just wish he'd stayed at rangers longer so he could have qualified for Scotland.

He would qualify by becoming British, you cannot become English or Scottish, therefore he could choose any of the home nations

I would rather have a english clogger from league 2 than use the method the republic of ireland used. ie. aldridge, houghton, cascarino, etc etc etc, just because they liked guinness, they got a cap!!!!

anyone remember when Almunia was apparently being called up - jesus christ

And Carlo Cudicini too wasn't it?

Was funny about Tony Cascarino as he qualified through a grandparent, then it was discovered that his parent wasn't actually related by blood to the grandparent having been adopted, which meant Cascarino had no Irish blood at all, but then having been adopted, the parent got Irish nationality, so actually Cascarino WAS eligible. Or so it went something like that anyway!

I assume all who wouldnt have Arteta in the England team do not count France as real winners of the 98 world cup.....
