as time goes by

First Game (proper) dad took me to a 2-0 defeat to Leeds at Elland Road in December 1977, after the game we sat in match traffic listening to the FA cup draw on the radio, when we pulled Leeds United again. How could dad deny my requests to take me again (the now infamous 1978 cup game) so close to Christmas.
First Match at Maine Road was a year or so later V Everton in a 0-0 draw, and I never missed a home match after that until 1984.
Unfortunately I only get to about 10 games a year nowadays due to work and location, though dad still holds a season card and never misses a home game.

This thread should at the very least be in the General Football Forum. If I wanted to read about struggling Serie A managers that's where I'd go!

Only joking. Thanks Bobby. Hope it works out for you at Inter. If not you could always buy another yacht with the payoff! :)

morning fella.

when i saw the picture it just took me back a bit. not just cos its bobby but the fact that we've moved on so quickly from there. he was the springboard for where we are now. there was also the players though who made that jump of faith who should hold in high regard. some worked some did't but they all tried. (except boatang). Gareth. Nigel, Lescott and even Robino, even the loon that was Mario and probably the biggest of all Carlos. not one of them now at our club but along with Bobby i think they should be remembered fondly. the picture just brought it all back.

My first game I cam remember being at was Liverpool at home August 1962 .... Not long after we played West Ham and Bert Trautmann was sent off for kicking the ball up the refs backside - we lost 6-1 .... not our worst defeat that season.

Started supporting as a kid in Abbey Hey in 1955 so Diamond Jubilee next year !!!!!

An amazing journey to where we are today .... Colin Bell my obvious favourite player but he has a few contenders for hero worship in our current team.

Happy New Year to Blues everywhere.

Old Trafford 1968, taken by my rag-supporting father to cheer on United but City captured me for life in a single game. I still can't understand how that can happen but I'm glad it did.
