Ashton United submit loan offer for Haaland

They were traditionally the better of the two Ashton clubs back in the day iirc but have well and truly been overtaken by Curzon over the last two decades or so. The latter benefitting from the development of the 4g pitches etc at the stadium.
Remember watching my brother’s team winning the Manchester Youth League’s Vimto Cup at Hurst Cross, probably 1983/4

I painted The clubhouse and stand at Curzon in 1980. The clubhouse was an old porta-cabin and their only stand was a decrepit wooden stand that held about 50 hardy souls. Thinking back that stand swayed when i put the ladder to it and would be condemned in that poor state nowadays.

My nephew plays for their development team, very decent set up at Curzon nowadays. Good stadium and facilities
Glad to see Ashton Utd getting some attention despite their second name

Was it Ashton Utd or Curzon Eric Nixon played for? And is Curzon Ashton the only club to have Curzon as part of their name!??
Curzon it was who Eric played for. Legend has it he just turned up on a Monday. Literally walked into Platt Lane with his gear in a Slazenger holdall and asked for a go.
Fair fucks to him for having the balls. Was playing at Maine Road within two months

Went to watch a mate playing at Curzon’s old ground back in the 90s, you’re not wrong about the stand!
Didn’t they laughably call it ‘The National Stadium’ back then?

From what I can remember The National was an engineering firm at the side of the ground.

Used to have a beer in The Greyhound pub when I'd go as I got older.

These twats beat us last week..... They can fuck off.

We never beat teams from Tameside
