Asian Cup

Japan are two up after 28 mins in the other semi.
Excluding the right defender who plays for a Japanese team, all of their starting line up are from WSL. None of the players who play in other European countries or USA is starting today. Our 3 players: Yamashita, Fujino, and Hasegawa all started.

Japan win 4-1.

Aoba had a goal disallowed for a hand ball earlier on in the build-up, and also had a near-assist for Yui whose shot was smothered by the keeper.

At least we know they are back for the league game against Leigh Sports Village I suppose. Win that and it likely consigns that lot to 4th spot.

Japan 1-0 Australia (Hamano scored and Hasegawa assisted; 17 minute). The game now is in the 35th min of first half.

The 2 teams play with same players of the semifinals. Major difference, Fujino plays right winger (like at City) and Hamano plays left attacking midfielder instead of right winger as she used to play. They switched positions. Hamano’s goal was a strike from almost 20 yards.

Fowler was selected from Australia for the post game interview, and she was excellent. No silly emotions or overreactions. She sounded much more mature than being only 23.

Real pleasure to see Hasegawa holding the trophy as Japan’s captain. She also won the Fair Play award. Yamashita won Best Goalkeeper. And our ex-player Kennedy won MVP.

Woo hoo, thank goodness they are back. Should be nice and fresh for Saturday's game against Leigh sports village. Does anyone know if Mary Fowler has also returned? You'd think they would all have come back together along with all the other UK based players that took part in the final.

Can't see any reason why she wouldn't have, but guess we'll have to wait for Andre's presser on Thursday

Notice the photos taken are outside the New Women's Centre so it must be operational. Strange we've not had an official opening video or at least a report showing off the inside on the OWS.
Maybe in the near future.
