Aston Villa (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

And it's been said before, you think they'd be able to keep shtum if they did. No chance.
And if its bad surely they should be fighting to get points on the board pre any deduction, alternatively they have lost all faith in the club management including Pep.

I think we need 4 players in January and 10 in the summer.

For me it’s bye and thanks for everything in the summer to:

Walker
De Bruyne
Stones
Gundogan
Grealish

Maybe:

Ederson
Bernardo

Bye and thanks for fuck all:

Phillips
Nunes

Step it up next season or step aside:

Doku
Savinho

So a minimum of 7 leaving in the summer. Possibly 9.

Chelsea turned a lot of heads with all their signings but we see why it was necessary. It’s afforded them the ability to have a fresh start and soak up any injuries and compete in Europe too with pretty much a 2nd/youth team. This also means their young players are getting exposure and some of the more experienced heads either can play into form or recover from injuries.

On the other hand we’ve just flogged the same 18-20 players to death in the all comps after many played a full euros/copa America.

Haaland is a superb goal scorer when the side is purring but he’s a very limited footballer. He’s also lazy and soft as shit for a big lad.

Imagine Tevez in that game today. He’d have been everywhere and run his bollocks off making a proper nuisance of himself. Haaland is far too easy to play against.
He is if he’s never passed the ball. Why do we NEVER try one over the top like we did in his first season. He has pace and strength but by the time we get anywhere near their box he has 4 defenders around him. Play it quicker, player it through or over them, let him have a battle. Otherwise don’t play him and play two goalies instead, they get more passes than him anyway

Shed loads of injuries, making up numbers and have to have so many home grown
None of those answers is applicable. He made the squad well before there were any injuries. Man City should not be carrying anyone "making up numbers". That in itself is a terrible concept. We have to have no more than 17 foreign developed players. He's not here to meet any quota. He's just one among a group who made the squad that the manager doesn't rate. That's simply down to piss poor squad management...

70% seems a little over the top.

Ederson - Injured
Ortega
Gvardiol
Ake - Injured
Stones - Injured
Akanji - Injured
Dias - Injured
Walker - Unfit
Lewis
Kovacic - Unfit
Gundogan
Grealish - Unfit
Rodri - Injured
KDB - Unfit
Nunes - Injured
Foden - Unfit
Doku
Savinho
McAtee
Bobb - Injured
Silva
Haaland

That's 13 out of 22 senior players. So closer to 60%.

Well you really are pathetic questioning a supporter by their number of posts ! .
Well that isnt what I was doing, but you know that really.

Minimal post count from posters who have been around a while, but who only post in times of crisis or in response to a poor result, very often indicate a provocateur, or heaven forbid, a rag.

It certainly is the root of the problem combined with the aging squad.

There is at least two managers in the somewhat modern era that didn't have shelf life, and remained competive at all times for most of their career. There is no reason to believe that Pep, an absolute genius isn't more like them, and less like the others.

But, if it were the case that we had a squad in prime age and the young players stopped playing for him, maybe there would be an argument to be made about switching managers not being a terrible idea. But when the reality is that half of these players are approaching the twilight of their career and the rest of them presumably haven't even entered their peak yet, I think it is pretty easy to come to the conclusion that a major surgery in the squad while sticking with what still is the greatest manager in the world is the safest thing to do.

If there is huge issues next year with a new group of players, most critically related to our playing style being inferior to the focus on pace and directness that seems to have become the norm amongst young managers these days, maybe we can talk about parting ways with the greatest manager we will ever see
Co-signed.

We need a rebuild with or without Pep.

Might as well give the greatest manager of his generation, and top five manager in history, the opportunity to do it, eh? What's the worse that happens, we end up with a bunch of technically gifted players who are comfortable on the ball with high footballing IQs.

Unlike yourself I’m not purporting to be a massive blue - I don’t feel the need to do so to be honest - and I readily admit that I don’t have all the answers because it would be silly to believe that.

I’m merely expressing an opinion on the current slump in form and, for whatever reason (not especially interested), you feel the need to react to any opinion which differs from your own, be abusive to them and generally be a bit of a dick towards people.

It’s tedious attention seeking and you should give it a rest.

When you start calling everyone cunts and mardarses you should expect what's coming!!

It's a forum. And people's opinions in a forum differ. But he doesn't get that bit!!

Because teams defend a bit deeper to counteract that, something our back line seems incapable of doing, we conced the same goals more or less every game

No, it’s your mother , calm down son , getting yourself too excited JewelZee isn’t really that good for you , try the late 80’s , or maybe the 90’s , that may help x
WTF are you even saying? Bringing up people's mothers you jack ass. Bro, you need help...

Who are the 2? If you're talking about Ferguson, even he had a shelf life. It is the natural order of things in football.
The points you make are fair and I'm not necessarily saying I'm right but I am wondering whether Pep still has it in him to reach those highest standards again.
