It may have been shit yesterday but nowhere near as shit as the last 2 seasons at Villa Park.
Where was the semi-automated offside graphic?Marmoush was marginally offside on his cross to Haaland
Etiquette? On Bluemoon? Interesting concept - If only!!Haha, forgive me, i'm only learning the etiquette on bluemoon.
Ah, but can he run down blind alleys, tackle himself, beat the same player three times and then fall over, and delay crossing the ball until the defender can block the cross easily? - The big question asked by whoever recruits our wingers.Didn’t realise how consistent Semenyo has been 3 seasons in the prem he’s been a consistent goal scorer. Improving every season. We’d be stupid not to try for him only 25 as well
1st season 8 goals 2 assists
2nd season 11 goals 5 assists
This season so far 6 goals 3 assists
On the stream I watched he was leaning forward as the ball was played to him and his head was offside.Where was the semi-automated offside graphic?
- Oh it was not active due to the AWS outage.
Where was the freeze-frame drawn out lines?
- Oh it wasn't deployed because the replay clearly showed an arm was offside.
Since when is an arm sticking out count as offside? You can't score with an arm, so it shouldn't count in an offside decision.
- Dismissed by VAR so quickly.
Liverpool have never taken us to the cleaners. Even at Anfield we have been very competitive despite being repeatedly screwed over by the refs. They have a dismal record at Etihad - they did win last year but we were in total disarray and even then they parked the bus for 70 mins after scoring early. The signing of Donnarumma seemed to give everyone a lift but yesterday’s shitshow has taken the wind out of our sails. The next real test is Liverpool who are likely to find form and take us to the cleaners. Maybe the whole 115 thing has fucked Pep, the sooner it’s done with the better.
You very rarely get innovative corner “routines” that flummox the opposition and allow for a clear chance a la Stonesy’s near post tap in a couple of seasons ago. I think corners are more about attitude, bravery, a desire to get to the ball. Someone like Big Sam coming in as a special set piece coach could instill that desire in the players
I hope you are right but at the same time not because if it’s about bravery it feels like that will be harder to change.
It was a good shot, but a similar shot from us wouldn’t have found the net. Villa’s determination to block everything wasn’t quite matched by our own defence.I wouldn’t say that they were the better team, we both defended well, we attacked better, but they got a goal from a superb shot.
We're still essentially playing the painfully slow and dreary, endless sideways passing style of play that's been so comprehensively sussed out by our opponents, this style of play definitely isn't conducive with providing wingers with the space they need to utilise their pace and trickery.Terrible result but we have played worse and won . The premier league this season is a really strange one every team is inconsistent apart from Arsenal who are scraping 1 nil wins here and there .
Our biggest problem imho is the form of our wingers ……… they both absolutely do my head in !
I thought their goal was offside before the cornerOn the stream I watched he was leaning forward as the ball was played to him and his head was offside.
Yes I was sat on line with it. If they score during that move before the corner the goal gets disallowed by VAR.I thought their goal was offside before the corner
Exactly I don’t see much difference of when Grealish and Bernardo were our wingers.Agree with you here. Those really are wide forwards, and they just don't really seem to be what we recruit, for whatever reason.
We have out-and-out wingers (Doku, Savinho), or creative midfielders (Bobb, Cherki).
We're possibly looking to have Marmoush playing there on the left, but he doesn't seem totally comfortable with it.
We need more goals from the wide players, but it seems like their job is just to stay wide and try and stretch the defence to make space for our midfielders to run into. Well, you can tell how well it's working by the amount of goals our midfielders are scoring...
Our wingers non end product when in good positions is contrary to this opinionWe're still essentially playing the painfully slow and dreary, endless sideways passing style of play that's been so comprehensively sussed out by our opponents, this style of play definitely isn't conducive with providing wingers with the space they need to utilise their pace and trickery.
Yep, you could clearly see on the replay that Marmoush had started his run a second too soon .... and he hardly argued about it !On the stream I watched he was leaning forward as the ball was played to him and his head was offside.
Spot on ...... we can all put our hands behind our backs and stand off players who are about to shoot .... but real defenders act quickly to get in their faces, confront them, and put them off their shot at the very least. It was a good shot, but a similar shot from us wouldn’t have found the net. Villa’s determination to block everything wasn’t quite matched by our own defence.
Unless you're at least 10-15 points in front at the top of the table then EVERY Premier league game is a test that you should be putting everything into .... they all yield three important league points if you win them, and the rags have just proved that you can absolutely zoom up the table if you win a few games!Actually the next real test is Bournemouth next week.
