I have always had a dislike of Villa going back years. It may be genetic? My father vacillated between Wolves and West Brom, depending on who was doing better. In the late 1950s it was certainly Wolves. My Grandfather quite liked Birmingham City.

My annoyance with Villa was made worse when we went to an away match in late 1960s. Back then we always used to go to the supporters club bar, if there was one, before an away match. We used our City Social Club Card. The only club to refuse us admission was Villa, claiming they were not affiliated.

Later I moved to Birmingham, working at Aston University (Birmingham City was actually nearer than Villa). Unfortunately my spell there corresponded to Villa's most successful spell since the 1890s, under the dour Ron Saunders. It was as well that despite working in Birmingham for six years, I lived in Coventry for all bar the first three months.

On the walk to the tube before and after the game and the tube station , quite a few of their pricks giving it the big 'un , all clubs have their knobheads but Villa's were out in force that day , i suppose if you only get to Wembley once every millenium and you have a few shandy's it can go to your head.

Yes as a villa fan my last 2 trips I went to Wembley against Arsenal and Liverpool were unpleasant after the game with some villa fans fighting amongst themselves .All day drinking is to blame and lack of segregation.Not seen much trouble or hassle at Villa Park . I personally prefer city to Utd and love watching them play as it is pure football. I think because city have taken our best players over the years ie Milner, Barry, Delph , Grealish etc some fans don’t like it which is understandable. Also in return we have had Ireland & Richards who were always injured and very poor when they did play for us.
