Aston Villa (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Wasn't the greatest game I've ever seen, but it's all about grinding results out now, and we certainly did that ...... Villa are no slouches, and almost pulled off the draw, but Dokus wing play and delivery for that late winning goal was absolutely exceptional.
We did well, just need to win games. Seven unbeaten, come on you Blues.

Let’s be honest, that was a crap game - no sugarcoating it. But credit where it’s due, that goal from Nunes and Doku at the end was big. Could be a massive step towards securing top 4.
I enjoyed the game, we actually pressed more than we have been doing. Also playing with two fullbacks who are midfielders deserves some credit from us fans. Kovacic was great and Bernado put in a fantastic shift, Omar is some player just wait until he gets use to the Prem.

Fantastic win against a pretty good Villa side. Great mentality from the team to steel themselves after the hammer blow of a dubious penalty and keep going and going right til the end.

Bernie was top notch til he ran out of steam, Nico did well again too.

Most credit of all to Pep who knows how to get a team to peak for the run in.

Least credit of all to Villa fans. Supporters of big clubs don’t usually come out with your bingo card of small town small time chants but these morons did.

Villa supporters are utter scum, just behind the rags and dippers in their scuminess.

Thought it was a very good game and a deserved win.
Played as a team and no failures on the night.
At the game their penalty looked like no clear and obvious error.TV the same.?

Just back in from the match. Two observations. First, I thought the run of Palace (who’d won 6 on the run away before us), Everton and Villa was a really tough run, to win all 3 is excellent. Secondly, all those people who sang after the winner, try doing it a bit more often, it really fucking helps

That feeling when Nunes scored was what we have been missing all season. Felt great. A true release.. we were so successful for such a long time I almost become numb to those moments.
I nearly passed out!

On the big screen at the game thought it was a dive but having seen it on the highlights ide say it probably was a pen.

You must be joking all hail rashford single handily kept villa in the game the rags should be giddy to get him back ..
'Give him green grass to run into and he's unstoppable".
OK Roy then why did the rags get rid if all they play is hoofball?

Actually enjoyed that, surprisingly

Good performance, we pressed well and overall deserved it.
Would have been a real shame had we come off with just a point as Villa were poor and there for the taking.
Nico brilliant, Gvardiol again in CB a star, grandads midfield was alright although Gundogan was a bit anonymous

Also despite the fact he played for it, it was a penalty for me
If it happened at the other end and we weren’t given it we’d be fuming.
It’s unlucky but clumsy from Dias
Was the on decision a clear and obvious error? Would that have been given at certain other PL grounds in a similar scenario? I don’t think so. Maybe there’s arguments both ways on a pen or not but once ref hasn’t given it VAR should be nowhere near this IMO.

Deadly win tonight. Poor performance, poor from Pep, poor referee but we found a way.

Fantastic goal between Doku and Nunes to get us over the line.

Think it’s going to be very tight that was a huge result.
What a ridiculous take on the game.

Villa rolled into town full of it, as were their fans. They thought they were going to stuff us.

They got a huge break with the penalty that we would not have got.

Some of our players, the old guard played very well against a much younger and athletic side

Some dubious refereeing and in their favour yet we still came out deserved winners.

Kovacic, Bernardo, Gundogan, De Bruyne? No pace or intensity in that midfield. Contrast that with Villa's midfield

Onana, Kamara and Tielemans against the uncs...

I can see how it worked against Palace, but not against Villa.
This game isn’t played on an Xbox. Character and experience come to the fore in recent matches. We controlled that midfield. We’ll miss them in these moments when they’re gone. Love this club.
