Aston Villa (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

Its a strange feeling today for me obviously we have the memories none of us ever thought possible especially since watching from the late 80s and 90s absolutely impossible and so grateful but also feel quite sad that we will never unless we have another miracle see anything better as a city fan not that its downhill from here at all but that was the pinnacle and to appreciate it even more now.

Not arsed re the result but let’s be honest that was a diabolical performance to send the great man off with.

Bottom line is the “squad” players are absolutely wank and we have a lot of work to do to get back to the days of having “two first teams” and a bench where every player would walk into everyone else’s first 11.

Reijnders, Gonzalez, Lewis, Marmoush, Savinho simply cannot be here next season. Nowhere near the level to win leagues and CLs.

I’ll save my thoughts on the day/send offs for other threads.
1st half was fine. A draw would have been ok for everyone & but for a ridiculously diabolical var call we would have got it

Look at these scenes! Unprecedented.

Pep, I love you. Thank you.
I was there and found it quite emotional when they were paying tribute to Stones, Bernie and especially Pep. What fantastic 10 years we have had with him. The ride has been phenomenal, and all the trophies won over that time have been fantastic. Thank you to Pep and all the players who have played under him.

Not sure that's called for today sir.
Respect your opinions, and always have, but today had nothing to do with a result/performance.
Simply a celebration of what 3 people brought to our club.
Think the lineup reflected there was nowt to play for. I will agree some out there really did themselves no favours though
Today wasn't about the game itself in any way. But how many games like that have we seen over the last two seasons? It's clear Pep has given us absolutely everything of himself the last 10 years and had no more to give.

The 2017/18 Centurions season we had players like Walker, Kompany, Bernardo, David Silva, Fernandinho, Stones, Gundogan, Sané, Sterling, Foden, Jesus, Yaya and Aguero. Who in the remaining squad is close to the level of those players?

I have to say that I'm excited about the future as we have some young players with potential. We may have a very good team in 2 or 3 years time. But I'm very much of the opinion that we asked too much of Pep for too long.

Weakened team, didn’t really expect much to be honest, the team, occasion, and if I’m totally honest those who did make the starting 11 who are on the fringes didn’t really make a claim to be playing at all. Reijenders and Nico ain’t up to scratch, both in my opinion bad buys. Like to see em both gone. Think since this new guy came in other than 1 or 2 the signings have been poor. We came close with what I believe is nowhere near the sides we’ve had in recent times. Like it always said on my school report, Must improve!!!
