Don't see us winning tonight. Still think we'll make the CL whatever the result.

I just think they're a bad match up for us, technical quality, plenty of pace, can't see our midfield keeping up with them, whoever we field.

Might be wrong, on paper Newcastle didn't look a good match and we dealt with them.

I've seen a lot reference the Newcastle game on here and how we swept them aside. Major part of that is missing tonight in that Ortega doesn't have the range or ability with his feet of Ederson. And that played a huge part in how we broke Newcastle down.

I work with a load of people in the office supporting Villa, every last one of them reckons they'll batter us tonight.
They honestly think it'll be an easy win for them

You'd think this is another of those games where we'll need at least 3 goals to win

We'll have a chance, as long as the match is still up for grabs by the time we start playing. Quite a big 'if' , though...

Fair point

A win tonight all but guarantees us UCL football next season. A four point gap between us and Villa with just four games to go should be enough. Chelsea's fixtures are the toughest out of all the contenders so I can't see them catching us either.

To put it simply, we have to go for it. Its not the big games for titles we've been used to over the last few years but arguably this is even bigger. Get in the UCL next year and we can rebuild in the summer and go again next year. Miss out on it and the rebuild just got a lot harder

Won’t be bothering with the matchday thread tonight going off the comments on here already……….

Lol

Just think - however crap it's been this year - here we are, this late in the season, still fighting on two fronts and with every game crucial. Exciting to the end.

Those perennial mid-tablers would give their right arm to be in this situation.

Biggest game for a long time. Reminds me a bit of the spurs games in 2010 and 2011
Been plenty of similar games recently. Beating FC Bruges to qualify for the Champs League springs to mind. I genuinely thought we would get held to a draw then and was pleasantly surprised. Expecting a hard fought 2-2 this evening, probably after going 0-2 down early doors. Again, hope to be wrong.

Seems mad that they don't have a single player out injured after a fairly relentless schedule. Pretty annoying given our injury woes this season! Going to be up against it tonight, but hopefully home advantage can swing it for us.

Yes but at least he gets in the way of the round thing the opponents kick at our net.

Imagine telling your younger self that this is what a bad season would look like
