Aston VIlla - relegation?

The only reason they won't go down is that there are probably three worse teams than them. Hull, Leicester and QPR all look to be up to their collective necks in the shit (with Burnley not that far ahead of them). But Villa would want to be very careful. They can't buy a goal at the moment. And if one of those three sides decide to put their arse into gear and actually start trying (Leicester?), Villa could be in big trouble.

They're in the shit. No doubt about it. I think they have been fortunate for a couple of years. Totally unambitious club now, an owner who doesn't care, and a poor manager. This is their worst run for years, certainly in terms of scoring goals.

I've never had an issue with them as a club, or ever come across any shite for their fans, but I think they will go this time, I genuinely do.

It's possible, we had a bet at work before the season and I said they'd go down because they've been pretty bad for the last couple of years. It's not FFP that's the problem for Villa though, they could have built on the decent core they had a few years ago before the rules even existed but they sold the players off instead. They've made a lot of mistakes in recent times and I think they're probably about to pay for them.
FFP is entirely the problem as Lerner has lost interest and he's had no takers to buy the club as anyone who does so cannot invest in the playing squad in a way that will ultimately provide a decent return, both and and off the pitch.

The irony is that Lerner has "got bored" but cannot dispose of his toy. An unwilling, disinterested owner caught with an asset suffering from eye-watering negative equity.

Mistakes or not, without FFP someone would have bought this venerable footballing institution a considerable time ago and would have made the necessary investment to make relegation a far more remote possibility.

Exactly what a Villa fan on a general footy forum has been saying all season. They are crap but there might be three worse teams.

Villa have only scored 11 goals all season. With players like Benteke, Agbonlahor, Delph that is atrocious, I fail to see how Lambert is still in the job

I have no sympathy for any chairman who voted for FFP they are reaping what they have sown the pricks!

What rich person is going to buy a club in the shit and maybe with debts knowing that they cannot input the necessary funds needed to get them back to the top or at least competing?None!

Villa are a perfect example. Before FFP they would have been an attractive proposition,a big fan base in a major City and a good history,Now? Noboby wants to know. The likes of Everton are in even worse position with an antiquated stadium that needs rebuilding too.

Will FFP stop us,Arsenal, the rags,Chelsea,Spurs? No all it has and will do is stop any of the rest from joining the elite group.I have some slight sympathy for the fans of other clubs but they should have kicked up a stink with their chairman before the vote instead of thinking it would stop the likes of us instead.Welcome to reality!

Same here. I was over for a game against them a few years back (the Mario hat trick game), and was talking to a few of their fans in the Waldorf before the game. They were the older sort, who went back to the early eighties EC winning side, and they were sound. There's far worse clubs/fans around than them. But their team at the moment is shite.
