Di Matteo got West Brom promoted from the Championship, so hardly without experience. Villa were always going to struggle, they were a shocking side last season, they havent got enough experience in the side, they werent ready for the shock of Championship football and as a club have forgotten how to win. They desperately need an Andy Morrison type player.

I know he got them up but that was a few years ago and WBA were a yoyo club for a while so presumably had some PL quality still in the team - Villa were shite last season, anyone who was half decent left and those that were left had no experience of apetite for the Championship. Mick McCarthy would have been a decent shout to steady the ship

It was a poisoned chalice IMO nearly anyone would have struggled, the club is rotton to the core.

Hopefully they will appoint Colin Wanker.

I did predict in one thread, that Di Matteo would be sacked before Xmas - they need an experienced manager at that level and one with experience of building a club. Dare I say, Allerdyce would be ideal

When I heard that di Matteo had been appointed, I was very underwhelmed and remembered thinking that he wasn't the right man for that job.

I'd fully expected gollum to be the new Villa manager. I reckon he would have been ideal.
