Aston Villa Thread 2016/17

I think it's fair to say they hate Joleon and Micah. With some justification. They've been piss poor for Villa.
The "Pellers got rid of them because he hates English players" crowd were forced to go pretty silent, pretty quickly tbh, same for those calling for Rodwell to get more games.

A lot of it has to be down to attitude as there is no way they were this terrible when we had them and they turned to shit the second they left (although Micah looked pretty terrible in his few minutes in his last season for us). Joles in particular has made a complete prat of himself at Villa and he'll have made it very hard for himself in the future sadly

I think we progressed as a team and they got left behind. They were good enough once, they aren't any more.
Some players excelled form the Hughes days - like Kompany and Zab, and others didn't. Lescott's a lot older too, and sometimes, a player drops off the cliff physically / mentally - not to mention that Villa are a very different standard than City these days - so players can look terrible when not surrounded by others on a similar wavelength.

It's clear Villa's problems already existed long before Richards and Lescott went there, but equally, they've not improved their plight either.

Going down, going down, going down...

They'll be singing that European cup song at our u19s team next season if baldy doesn't do the business.

Villa are going to be what we were in the 90's, only their support will be shit and they don't have a sense of humour.

Villa very much look like City after relegation in 96. Fragile, soft centred and beatable with a bit of graft. For Lincoln (shudders) read Luton (shudders again). They'll struggle to make top half too. Can see them struggling to avoid the drop and sacking managers. They'll probably finish just below half way and their notoriously fickle fans will be shown up for what they are. How long before they dip below 20,000 at home? As others have said I have no time for them after the way they treated Barry and Delph, and their behaviour towards us. I really won't miss them and hope they stay down for a good while until they learn some humility- and that's most of their fans in my experience. I recall them inexplicably giving it large (like Ipshit did to us in 2001) when they relegated Newcastle a few years back (not forgotten on Tyneside either). Can see both clubs heading in opposite directions. Get down again.

Hope Micah and Jolene get away from there pronto. Yes they've been poor for Villa but it doesn't help as a defender when your midfield offers little or no protection. Some moves just don't work out. Not sure where they'd end up but they are both better off having a fresh start, if they feel like playing is more important than wages (big if I know!) Somewhere like Sheff Wed, Newcastle, Derby, or even Forest? Even Hull might consider at least one of them. Got to be a better environment than 20,000 whining Brummies! Good luck to them both.

Read the last few pages of the villa talk thread on Micah Richards - ouch.

Micah Richards is only 28! Fucking hell......... he really had it all at one point, then just seemed to stagnate. Shame.
