Asylum seekers were housed in cramped and filthy conditions at a military barracks, inspectors have said.
Some of the most vulnerable people were living in a "decrepit" block unfit for habitation at Kent's Napier Barracks.
The Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration and Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Prisons also visited Penally Camp in Pembrokeshire. They said both sites were "run-down".
The Home Office said it had instructed service providers to make improvements.
Labour has said the findings are "utterly unbelievable", and Plaid Cymru called for Home Secretary Priti Patel to "consider her position".

In my time in the Armed Forces I lived in many cramped & decrepit barrack blocks.
And that is disgusting as well. I don't quite see the relevance mind.

The only connection is the complete disregard of people from those in power.

What a surprise, another outsourcing disaster.

I just wish someone had give a shit back then!
So do I, no person should have to live in those conditions.

As a nation we need to treat people better in loads of areas. it matters not to me who the people are, but human dignity should be a base level at least of habitat.

What does decrepid actually mean? TBH i didnt find the report that helpful or informative. The pictures i saw last night looked as if it needed a lick of paint and a clean. They mentioned and showed that some accommodation was dormitory type. Is this really unacceptable?

Surely it needs to be dry, clean, warm and provide the required number of meals. With some form of entertainment. TVs etc.

I agree.

To put a positive light on this it goes to show the system is working, the accommodation falls below acceptable standards and is picked up by the inspection teams.

Next steps is put it right and then figure out how it happened in the first place.
