At long last - video technology

Hopefully the ref and video ref will be on microphones so those in the ground have a full understanding of what is going on

There's already been examples of Webb doing this job (just for shits and giggles) but he can look at similar fouls/dives/handballs and arrive at different conclusions depending on who's playing. Bent officials will show the same bias when presented with slow-mo footage as they would in real time. I'd rather the game play out uninterrupted... get overseas refs and kill the ones who start to show bias. Or just sack them.

Will never happen, but would love to see any contentious decision replayed on the large screens showing all evidence that the video ref is viewing.
Why would it never happen? It happens in Super League.

Rugby league have it the timekeeping one is the best one stop all the deliberate time wasting.verus West ham at home this season Jenkins was down for five minutes they added 3 on, thats besides other stoppages, people must realise this is the worst one, 8 minutes addedversus scum the 4 3 loss 4 minutes on the board so the first 4 minutes there was no play , bent.

The game is interrupted when physios come on when players pretend to be injured when they aren't, 'keepers like Tim Howard and Begovic can take anywhere between 40-70 seconds to take a goal kick, when players surround ref when they disagree with a decision it can take the ref a good 30seconds to get hold of the game again after sorting all that out, Champions League football (and other European leagues) is littered with stop-start-stop-start-stop games because of the amount of diving and refs blowing up for free kicks.

Football isn't this free flowing sport people make it out to be.

This is 20 odd years late coming into football. Super League (rugby league) has had the video ref since 1996. It is all about trying to get as many correct big decisions, when the ref isn't sure, as possible and that's more important than making sure play is going on for me.
At what point would you decide to stop the play to replay the 'video'?

For goals it would be when the players would usually be celebrating or moaning at the ref for why it was disallowed. For penalties when players would usually be moaning at the ref about the award or none award of the penalty. For red cards when the ref would usually be surrounded by a load of players for why he has or hasn't sent someone off.

It's about time it was tried but I can see it being absolute chaos. Football is fairly unique in that interpretation of its laws come down to the opinion of the referee. For example, what happens when the on-field referee and the video referee disagree on a handball in the box? Or Liverpool's penalty today, where arguments can be made for both sides?

It's not going to stop bent officials. It's just going to empower them even further.
