When Clichy and Micah are available, Bobby wil have to do away with the STRICT rotation policy and play them both when the occasion demands. Sorry to say, but those 2 bring a speed dimension that neither Kola or Zaba can reproduce.

Sure, Bobby! Rotate if you must. But it is time the better players ALWAYS get the bigger games!

Re: At some point...

I am inclined to agree mate, not that i feel they are even loads better just they are very different players even if they play the same position. Micah though has been awesome, fast powerful, positional awareness all awesome and that before you even get to how much his crossing has improved. In fact id say he is one of the best crossers in the prem atm.

Kolarov had a poor match but has been very good for us so i wont have a dig at him.

Im more angry at my post match snack of frazzles tbh, they had fuck all bacon flavoring on them, fuck you smiths.

At some point..

..People will start honestly stating their point in the thread title, and stopacting trying to draw people into readin their posts blind. Seriously.. Is your point not strong enough to draw people in on it's subject matter? Well, mayb it's not worth posting!

I apologize, as this thread is just the breaking point for me. Nothing personal.

And for what it's worth I generally agree with you, except I wouldn't blame it on a "strict" rotation policy, as much as a flawed one. It was hardly just the way the chips landed, our sXI was as it was by design.

I don't think they played poorly either. I just think City overall is a much better team with the speedy backs(Micah/Clichy), than they are we the gritty backs(Kolarov/Zaba).

Even if they both played spendidly today, I'd probably feel this way. Clichy/Micah are just more talented, PERIOD. And thus, should always get the big games, with Kola and Zab rotating to others. Granted, there were 3 straight big games on the horizon, and spotting those 2 some rest was bound to happen. But sometimes you just have to tell your best players to suck it up and play 3 straight, and let the others have the next 2 games. I'd rather have seen Micah/Clichy play the run of these 3 games and totally rested for Next week against Arsenal and Norrich, and then back for Bayern and Chelsea, then rested for the next 3. But in Bobby we trust.

I'd have to agree you have a point. :) And I apologize for the mystery. I will adjust accordingly.

Sorry mate, just tried it, and still ended up with a bit of a mystery thread. Ran out of space :) Perhaps subconsciously I figured that was gonna happen. Ah! the power of the mind!

Agreed. Best team for the big games, its not rocket science. You can only get away with it for so long.

It's all well and good playing our best team week in week out, but come the business end of the season when our best team are all knackered we might appreciate that there is a benefit to rotation.

Richards and Clichy have just had more or less two weeks off before playing a home game
Kompany and Lescott were away and played internationals and they weren't rotated

I'm talking more in terms of "musnt be rotated" than any specific game. But fullbacks are always going to cover much more distance than centre halves (particularly the way we play), so more important to manage them.

Hmmm not sure about some of this.

I think some are giving too little credit to an attacking front three of Napoli that are very very good. They will frighten a lot of good back lines this season. They attack with a pace we could well do with ourselves.

I suspect Bobby was worried that Micah and Gael are too offensive, would get caught upfield, exposing us even more to the Napoli counter attacks. Maybe thought Kola and Zab would be more stable, but when you are faced with very good and fast players attacking you at pace, you need a bit better than we offered last night.
