Athletes you support and why?

Strange that most of mine are tennis folk!

Don’t really follow any athletes but always liked Usain Bolt . Watched him at the 2012 games live in the 200M semi…ridiculously fast and slowed down at the bend to wave at everyone…..I was also admiring his off field antics and the stories of what he got up to when he wasn’t competing… dirty fucker, lol.

While I do enjoy watching the very best play their respective sports, I only really support local sportsmen. Not really arsed about getting behind anyone else. Some of the sports, I don’t even watch, but I’m happier to hear of them doing well than the big names in the bigger sports that I do watch.

For example, Altrincham’s Chris Ingram (City fan), was the first British, European Champion for half a century when he won in 2019.

Another is Dakota Ditcheva (City fan) from Sale. She’s an unbeaten MMA fighter.

Stockport’s Liam Broady (City fan) in tennis.

We had a good run of boxers for a while, with Ricky Hatton obviously being the big one.

Fred Perry is probably our greatest local sports name in history.

Unfortunately she's a rags fan, but Keely Hodgkinson is world class. She messed up in the World Championships last summer but she broke the indoor world 800 metres record earlier this week.
