Atletico Madrid | Friendly (N) | Post Match Thread

The most outrageous thing about today's game was Ali Mann's pronunciation of Griezmann.
Other than that, it was disappointing to lose, but good that the games on this tour seemed a bit more competitive than usual pre-season tour games.
Also positive that more starting players seemed to get more minutes than in previous seasons.
And, the new kit looks good in action and the players look fitter than ever. It could be an illusion with the cut of the new kit though.
We may have our traditional slow start to the season, but we seem in good shape, and have to see what another week in the transfer market brings.
Apologies for sounding a bit positive!

Didn't see the game, but that was shit. We need to be worried going into a new season with that 11. We were poor. Foden is that overrated he could be a Rag academy product. Dias has too many mistakes in him for a top notch centre back - you wouldn't see Martinez/van Dyke make those simple errors. Haaland needs to get more involved, he got away with it last season because of his goals but it won't cut it in his second season, he needs the same work rate as a Nunez or a Hojlund.

Arsenal will batter us next week. I won't be watching that game either but I'll make sure to put a decent post match report on here......
The only positive - we did manage to get an away goal.

Beyond that, it's hard to see where the next 3 points is coming from.

We can't afford another mediocre season like the last one...

Nice to hear someone being so positive, you should be in a Chapel.

Knowing how professional Ali is, he had probably been told how to properly pronounce it

Part of me thinks we are lacking a bit of creativity without Gundo and Mahrez, another part was thinking that we were against Atletico and they are well organised often with ten men in their own third. We were fine until all the subs and we didn't get any injuries. Maybe we will find out more next week, still too early to call anything yet I feel and I'd prefer we got another creative player in to replace Mahrez but hard to be too critical after last season because you just never know what Pep is cooking

Most recent pre-seasons there's barely been half the first team involved.
It's great that we've got most of the big boys up and at it so early - we don't normally see them till the charity shield.
The fanny wipes are moist early this pre-season.
Friendlies are about fitness.
We've got Pep; no worries.

Atletico were out for revenge a bit pathetic for a friendly game , it meant a lot to them judgung by Simeones reactions to their goals and the play acting of their players , the ref was shite and let too much go , he was shit scared of making a decision ,but lets see what happens when the chips are down in the Champs league against this bunch of cheats.
I have absolutely no concerns over our pre-season prepartion idiots forecasting a pasting by the Goons next week are acting like drama queens and there are quite a few on here , Pep never takes the Community shield seriously who really gives a f*ck about it ?
The Dippers won it last year, they were gonna push us all the way for the league and Nunez was going to score twice as many goals as Haaland , how did that all work out ? , Some of us are acting ike spoilt brats and the season hasnt even started .We do not have to replace Mahrez we have Bernardo , Foden and an improving Palmer for that position.
Gundo will be missed , i like the look of Kovacic he looks good on the ball but he is no Gundo replacement , we need someone to step up and score the goals needed , Foden is looking really sharp and hungry and hopefully will get nearer 20 goals this season, he is easily capable of those numbers.
The season starts at Burnley , god help us if we drop points there , the fanny's will be out in force on here predicting a season of purgatory , my money is on retaining the league title and winning the Champs league at Wembley , this squad of players are elite and rarely let us down and i exepect exactly the same and also the same hunger this coming season, if anyone shows any complacency Pep will nip it in the bud , no doubt about it.
