Atmosphere 2024/25

I'm sick of people acting like this was the sole catalyst for United being successful at the time.

Ferguson broke the British transfer record 5 times, it's not like they didn't have money to spend.
The GPC knew that he had to spend big to stay at the top. He retired pretty sharpish once he knew the Glazers were going to tighten the purse strings.
In the summer of 2007 when Thaksin and Sven arrived we spent about 50 million as did the rags. We'd just endured that ten home PL goals season so needed to spend big, while they were champions.
We failed to buy big after winning the title in 2012 (we bought some crap that summer) and handed the 2013 title to the rags.

I agree with most of that, however they didn't move grounds, they built a new one on the old site.
They should have taken the standard 3k allocation and made it a special day out for their genuine fans. - Unless their "genuine fans" are only interested due to the rag connection.
I've some sympathy for Salfords traditional hard core of 5/600 local fans.

Their club has been bastardised as a publicity & vanity project by Lims bitches led by rat boy.

Club colours and badge changed, managers changed, budgets increased,ex rags/wife beater as DoF....what abucket of shite to have to put up with.

As for the rag scroates who highjacked their day out,thy are more plastic than TupperWare !!

Really enjoyable evening, many youngsters will be hooked after tonight. Hopefully we see plenty more games where local families are able to get in
A lesson in plain sight for the club who are deaf, dumb & blind to our loyal, local support.

' Respect our existence
or
Expect our Resistance '

Much has been made of sound carrying in this thread.

I was halfway up 115 yesterday due to being evicted from 315.

Couldn't hear SS3 apart from one Salford chant (not very loud) & something muffled I assume about cheating as the rest of SS1 reacted.

110....could hear at all.

The singing in 115 was pretty constant similar to the back of SS3 but when songs properly caught on SS1 is no match for the City volume up in SS3.

Pretty much the same as you, I'm in 314 so got moved to 114 yesterday (Row X), genuinely didn't hear 1 thing from the Salford lot I'm assuming they mustered a bit of noise but it shows how much the acoustics of the stadium block the noise from 1 tier to the other.

As you say the singing in SS1 was decent and pretty consistent but not as loud as SS3.

Shows the club should really push the new North Stand as 1 massive tier that can create atmosphere, but we all know they won't it'll be full of corporate seats with people not bothering to make any noise at all

Maybe you noticed the other part of my theory. Because of the lack of a roof, to get a song going in the lower tier you need to clap to be heard. So the songs that get started down there are always “We’re taking the piss and you know” and “Sometines I fantasise” and “We never win at home” whereas the songs started at the top are the longer slower ones because if you shout “Weeeeee Aasare not” or “Bllliuuuueee Mooon” it bounces back and catches on.

This affects the spread because only the latter go round the stadium.

Same here. Moved down to 115 from 315. Enjoyed the different view. Loved the safe standing and really wish they would bring it into SSL3 but never going to happen. Plenty of singing but the noise definitely escapes with there being no roof to bounce off.

Thought atmosphere was very good in 115 after being moved from SSL3, as I've usually found it.

And just to reinforce an established point: A vigorous version of 'Stand up for the Champions' was sung yesterday in 115 and it didn't go anywhere and was even followed up with 'We can see you sitting down'. Yet, I've been in 315 when half hearted versions of 'Stand up for the Champions' have gone right round the ground.

307 pretty much dead first half. Livened up a bit second half. Better than some prem games I've had in the third tier where it's been silent and then they shuffle off at the 70th.

Unfortunately a few of them about.
Glad they didn't score, they would have cheered at 8-1 like imbeciles and caused bother.

This is why there should be as much safe standing in NSL2 as possible. There'll be many more in SSL3 and other areas like you. And as NSL2 will be mostly new seats, no one to disturb by having safe standing from the start.

I did the same & agree

It helps that most of 315 joins in when songs get going

Only about 20% of 115 bother joining in

Another reason we need to make NSL2 a proper singing section.

Whilst 115 and the rest of SSL1 may be a standing section, there are plenty in these sections who don't sing and never do, but just like standing.

We need actual areas designed for singers and only singers

City hating cunts posting on X are in meltdown because City fans, kids, dads, and mums did the Poznan during the match against Salford. It’s absolutely pathetic.
I’ve got a load of rags in meltdown by taking the piss out of their empty seats at Arsenal. I don’t really care about hundreds of them doing an impression of an empty red seat but they do!

Never mind the Voice of the Etihad, we need ‘Decibel Bellini’ on the side of the pitch.

That is not going to happen due to cost.

Just a further comment on 115, and this is meant in a good way after being moved there for FA cup games, imo its in its own bubble. The Blues in there are up for singing regardless of what is happening in the rest of the ground. I don't think they feel in any way responsible for getting the whole ground singing. They are going to sing and their only concern is coming up with the most appropriate or witty next song. And from being in there it was pretty constant on Saturday.

And then with this, the type of songs they sing are ideally 90 seconds or longer so 'Follow, Follow', the version of 'Made of Stone' and 'You Thought you won the League at Sunderland' all got plenty of airings on Saturday. I don't think 'Come on City!!!' was chanted and in a sense why would it be, when it wouldn't last longer than 30 seconds.

With this, I think there are parallels with Maine Road. My recollection is the City!,City!,City! and Come on City!!! chants came from the middle of the Kippax as a form of defiance or roused or angered by what was happening on the pitch, whereas the songs themselves were sung by fans closer to the away fans.

The great pity here is that there isn't another 15 or 20 rows in 115/116.

Far be it from me to defend the indefensible ones, but the reason they had empty seats was Arsenal (yet again) were trying to reduce their allocation on “safety grounds” then sell those seats to more Tarquins. Trafford objected and appealed to the FA, even suggesting the seats could be allocated to neutrals (eg emergency workers) but the bottlers were having none of it, so the 1000 T2 seats stayed empty.
We should beat the cartel with any stick we can find, but in this case the blame lay with Legoheads serial failures, not the scum. (Probably makes your wind up even more effective though!)
