Atmosphere 2024/25

Unfortunately I don't think SS1 is going to be able to compete with 2 tiers of pissed up Plymouth fans in their cup final.

This'll be a good one for the "acoustics don't matter" lot
Those that understand, understand & tomorrow others will probably start to understand why those who understand, understand !!

Understand ??

I'm not normally negative about our atmosphere, but it could be dire today.

One thing us for sure, the 8000 Plymouth fans will make a right racket.

Credit to the Blues who got behind the team. Credit to Argyle too. Not all their fans knew their songs but they got behind the team.

The 209 ultras were loud and proud as ever!

We must be the only team in the world who hands over the loudest section, ridiculous
Days like today make me want North Stand Level 2 to be our atmosphere stand more than ever.

We can’t let the club’s silence make us shy away from making it ours. I know they don’t really want us to make it a raucous atmosphere stand, but if enough of us commit to it, they’ll have no choice.

Won’t ever matter what set of away fans are in the South Stand for Cup games, we’ll outnumber them in an even bigger mass of fans up the other end.

I agree 100% if the club won't make the effort, I think we should commandeer it en masse, I've already made the decision to relocate, just hope others will join regardless

I was sat right at the back of ss1 today.
Couldn't hear a single noise other than the goal from the Plymouth fans.
I imagine they did sign a lot with it being a big game for them but it shows how bad the acoustics are in the ground and why we struggle when different tiers in the same stand can't hear each other

SSL1 was decent in the 2nd hand.

It probably never came through on the TV
Good for 15 mins in the dirty half too.

Could have done with the songs that start in the North Stand and go round the ground. Maybe in the next round

I was in east stand level 3 today, right near the front and near the away fans, so I got a good view of their support and ours.

When the ss1 were singing and more people joined in I could hear it pretty clearly.

However it’s almost impossible to outsing 8,000 away fans in arguably the loudest part of the ground. We’re crying out for a proper home end

Today was proof of why we really need to try and make NSL2 work as an atmosphere section, SSL1 we're never going to compete today

Hopefully the club seeing 9000 fans together have understood how that can work for us in the North stand, they’ve designed the roof to carry an atmosphere & direct it towards the pitch, now they’ve got to get the right people in there, and the only way to do that is offer similar pricing to SS3, in a central block, with 5-6000 ST’s issued in that area. I don’t see why they can’t at least give it a go, if it doesn’t work at least we’ll know

They were up there with the best sets of fans who’ve ever been to the Etihad for a domestic Cup game, to be honest. What a lot of sets of fans struggle with up there for Cup games when they’ve got the full width of the tier is singing the same song at the same time, Plymouth didn’t struggle at all.

The entire set of away fans were bouncing as one at one point. Plus I usually find that ‘we’re left side we’re left side, we’re left side Argyle*… we’re right side, we’re right side…’ (*change as appropriate) chant dead cheesy, but they even made that work and chanted it for ages!

Pep went over and applauded them, never seen him do that with any set of fans before.

They even deserved to chat ‘football in a Library’ today because it was dead in the home ends.

They were helped by a very quiet Etihad today so we did make it easy for them, but credit to them.

Unfortunately the long hoped atmospheric home end has long gone.

With a 400 room hotel attached to the stand, hotel balconies at the back of the stand, GA+ seats at the front of tier 2, etc, the new NSL2 is all about driving match day revenue, not about creating an atmosphere.

We were mugs in hindsight for ever thinking otherwise. Hotel = tourists.

Is what it is today. Cold night match against a side you're expected to smash and then you see the lineup and know you're going tonbe watching walking pace football for 90 minutes as the midfield shift the ball out to grealish who surprises everybody by shimmying before playing it back to the left back, we then see the ball shift over to the other side before it immediately comes back from where it came and the cycle repeats.

And we go behind. Hard for any set of fans to get up for it in those circumstances.

South stand made a bit of noise second half but it felt a bit laboured. The people in level 1 where the away fans usually are made a bit of noise to their credit.

Plymouth fans enjoyed their day out. perfect scenario for them really, a 5.45pm Saturday away trip to the champions is quite literally the ideal FA cup tie for a club that has no hope of winning it and they made sure to enjoy it.

Took them 1.46 seconds to belt out is this a library and the rest of the tired cliche's quickly followed, when they stopped boring everybody to death with them, they were good and loud. Fair play to them.
