Plymouth were loud, but they were singing the same so as every away support sings every game, and have done for the 20 odd years that I've been going.

Football in a library, wwywyws, same old city.

Zzzzzzz, no imagination. Like most weeks, incredibly tedious.

Plymouth fans were brilliant yesterday, didn't stop singing, but gotta remember this was their biggest game for years, an away game at the current Premier league holders, they travelled in numbers for their big day out and they enjoyed it, fair play to them.
I thought our support was subdued.

We didn't go, but Plymouth were like you say, I would have been disappointed if Plymouth didn't make it a great day for themselves.

We can't complain too much after our 90 minute silence. Let them have their day out, nothing they can sing would offend me, let them crack on

Well you don't have to compliment them, they were loud. Don't have to analyze their songsheet. If they returned the favour they'd be done very quickly.....
I don't have to, but wanted to and it's a forum where we still can post what we want.

So I did.

If someone else wants to go on about our support, feel free.

The Etihad is pathetic, we need to be honest with ourselves, we had penalty decisions that should have gone our way but the timid nature of our stadium allows the ref a free pass, can you imagine those handballs not being given at Anfield at the Kop end. The club have created a silent expensive theme park, where half the crowd fucks off 10 minutes before half time and returns in dribs and drabs into the second half. Our away support is the polar opposite of home games, the last time we had a proper atmosphere was the last couple of years at Maine Road, the North Stand was a proper end, we just don't have that, compounded by the club giving away the noisiest section to the away team in cup games, it's beyond laughable. The creation of the family stand has been a disaster for our reputation with the number of empty seats it has, especially on a midweek night. To my mind every decision the club has made with regard to atmosphere and dynamic at our ground has been wrong. The club should stick the away fans on a corner in a lower tier, they need to offer new season tickets in all of the extension, and also aim to make both top tiers behind the goals singing sections, and make them affordable to genuine blues who want to follow the team for a lifetime.

Hear, hear!

I think that was the first chant they could get going because a lot of their fans didn’t seem to know their own songs. Once the Plymouth fans got going they gave their team great support.

The club should do more to accommodate our singing fans in one area …..

As for away fans stick them in the corner like the bar codes do, the away fans who attend will come no matter where they’re seated

South Stand Lower near the back yesterday. Shit atmosphere and shit view. All you can hear is the people around you and would not have known the Plymouth fans were there.

I’m sure there is a regulation that away fans have to be pitch side. Only 2 clubs don’t comply, Newcastle and the rags.

I'm not stopping them. But I'm not going to compliment them for it the boring fucks.
You wouldn’t be able to tell that they were boring f**** if our crowd were making a sound! It was like a morgue to me. I thought they must have turned all the mikes off in our areas but hearing from folks who were there that it was dead in our ends.
I guess people are just too scared to sing on their own!

To make matters worse, they’ve most likely already made another whole host of bad decisions, which we just don’t know about yet!

Is it possible they could actually make the atmosphere worse by half heartedly trying to have singers in the North Stand, which won’t work as it will be compromised by their desire to half fill it with tourists, thus taking some but not all singers away from the South Stand?

I’m getting impatient now, I need to know what they’re planning. 100% this noise re:tourists and the pressure applied by 1894 and a choice few other fan groups will be making it harder for them if they’re thinking of taking the piss e.g. I could see uproar if they hike season tickets now, especially after Liverpool and West Ham showing freezes are possible.

We’ve had an atmosphere group working their bollox off for donkeys for free. We as a fanbase haven’t given them and the lads on the pitch the vocal backing deserved.

Yes, the Club haven’t helped with their excessive and sporadic expansion of corporate areas, steep ticket pricing etc but the common denominator is that we haven’t been loud enough.

The Family stand is a strange one because it’s only on days like yesterday that it would have been full of youngsters. For other games, the occasional songs that do start in the North Stand tend to go around the ground.

I want to club to recapture some identity, i want to see the youth of Manchester filling the Etihad and making it a proper football ground, not the wishy washy crap that we have, we don't need light shows, we don't need fireworks, we just need affordable season tickets and 7000 seats at each end of the ground given to people who want to make some noise. The family stand is a big white elephant that is oversized and not needed, just offer families seats anywhere in the ground at the same affordable prices, like when the club did when we was struggling and allowed kids to sit anywhere with parents for 95 quid, do the same and make it 175 quid for a kid or some realistic affordable figure, what we have now is complete crap, we all know it, no point pretending otherwise

Is what it is today. Cold night match against a side you're expected to smash and then you see the lineup and know you're going tonbe watching walking pace football for 90 minutes as the midfield shift the ball out to grealish who surprises everybody by shimmying before playing it back to the left back, we then see the ball shift over to the other side before it immediately comes back from where it came and the cycle repeats.

And we go behind. Hard for any set of fans to get up for it in those circumstances.

South stand made a bit of noise second half but it felt a bit laboured. The people in level 1 where the away fans usually are made a bit of noise to their credit.

Plymouth fans enjoyed their day out. perfect scenario for them really, a 5.45pm Saturday away trip to the champions is quite literally the ideal FA cup tie for a club that has no hope of winning it and they made sure to enjoy it.

Took them 1.46 seconds to belt out is this a library and the rest of the tired cliche's quickly followed, when they stopped boring everybody to death with them, they were good and loud. Fair play to them.
I was in the South Stand 1 where the away fans usually are.
Heard the Plymouth fans when they scored and that was it.
It must be an acoustic problem if other parts of the ground could here them.

You are never going to get an atmosphere in a game like that. There has to be some jeopardy.
