rather than every one slagging each other for not singing loud enough does any one actually have any ideas on how to coax people into making some fooking noise, im open to suggestions.

Snare drum, tom toms, bass drum, bugle, trumpet,................ aka sheff wed...

it takes a bad decision by the ref or a bad tackle to get the crowd going . im in south stand lower its getting worse as expectations are gettng higher , the balloons are the main entertainment at mnute

At the match today it crossed my mind as I looked up at the 3rd tiers (which were empty) that it would be a good idea if we followed Sunderlands lead and substantially reduced Kids tickets and relocated the Family stands up into the Gods instead !! This would enable your more hardcore and voiciferous fan to create an atmosphere without offending families around them ! When you consider that there was just over 40,000 at CoMs today I would rather see the lifeblood of our support fill the vacant 8,000 seats at a Quid each than them be empty !!

Would be nice if the family stand was east 3rd tier, that would make no difference to the atmosphere up there. It was dead for the derby ffs! Regret going up there
Mind you, shifting it up there would mean we could get a singing section going in the north :P

agreed. i sit in family stand with my godson and his dad- and i thoroughyl regret sitting there. it's shit but the club would probably argue that sticking the family stand in the gods would maybe deter youngsters from coming coz it's too high up- or something. but having one whole tier of one end dedicated to a load of fans that very rarely sing doesn;t help with the lack of atmosphere.

you can bet your arse whatever solution the fans come up with will be met by some reason why not by the club or they'll tell you it will take a long time to sort out. meanwhile we're sitting in a church for large parts of the game and it's embarrassing more than anything.

It's just a compromise to help with the atmosphere - you want the loudest fans closest to the pitch IMO ! My lad will be 16 in September so not really arsed about the language to be honest , I don't think any Dad would begrudge sitting 3rd tier in a family stand for under 16's if he could enjoy the match with his family for a quid a kid !! Considering that the TV money will increase again and us being in some hard times, it's the least the Club could do to ensure selling out and considering the wider community spirit !!

Rebuild Maine Road brick by brick, and make the away fans use an extended Gene Kelly stand, ;-)

Paul.

recorded chanting over the tannoy?

Absolutely not. This was one of the biggest piss-takes from Rags when piped over the tannoy cheering was tried.

That was the infamous Bolton game where we hit every piece of woodwork and still lost, wasn't it?

I seem to remember laughing at the "Psycho! Psycho! Psycho!" chant...hilarious.
