Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Hugh Ferris was never the stadium announcer who read the teams out and announced the goal scorers and substitutes, at City. He was the City Square and stadium half time presenter.

The lad who does it now has done it for about twenty years.
Jesus so that puts him in his forties at least ? Even more of a wanker then. Something clearly amiss with him to be behaving like this at that age.

At least Ferris presumably had some kind of journalistic background with him working for the BBC. He wasn’t my cup of tea for sure but he was clearly a sensible man progressing along his career path.

I know 1894 group have done so much over the years to try and improve the atmosphere with Members of the group working tirelessly to try new ideas and get opinions of what would work. Is there a feeling now however among the group that they have been beaten into submission to some extent over the apathy of fans including those in the “singing sections” and that they are just now flogging a dead horse as it sort of feels like that. I sit in the north stand and you can see pretty much most of the time a small section of our fans in SSL trying to create something but it just doesn’t catch on and it gets worse year on year.

Apathy won't stop us, we can't just give up , yes it's frustrating at times especially when you see how good we are away but we keep going.New ideas , meetings etc I'm new to the group but others have put close to 15 years into this.

Fantastic, we really appreciate your efforts which must be demoralising at times.

yer right mate don't give up the trouble is a lot of people in ssl stand go in there cos its cheap and not because they want to sing somehow you need to sort that out.

How many of you are active and which stands are you in generally? Is it all SS1 or spread around?

Atmosphere will be dependent on 1 thing alone. Whether or not they've been allowed to enter with a deafening drum that complete drowns out any noise from our 2 vocal areas. Impossible to have a good atmosphere when you cant be heard over a drum . Obscene that opposition fans can bring those in freely but we get fucking bottle lids confiscated

I was 50/50 about going as on the cup scheme with the kids, everything I have seen so far pre match tells me I made the wrong decision to be here, already a weird atmosphere and seemingly plenty of openly Gala fans around

I had my own reasons for avoiding the CL Cup Scheme, mainly I hate the new format, so not wasting my money on the groups.

I was going to go tonight but they weren't selling seats where my ST is, so gave it a miss, glad I did now.
