Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

The empty seats were very very noticable. Such poor ticketing policies as a club.

Unless it gets resolved I wont be going in the c.league scheme any more.

North stand is going to be 1 huge white elephant
So you're so annoyed by the empty seats at Champions League games that you're not going to any more. Is that right?

Been to two Lazio home games in the last decade and both times was around 40K in a 70K stadium. Don’t believe all other Italian fans obsess about their empty seats at diddy games, except for Roma naturally
Italian football went from the top league in the world to hovering around the 4th with massive clubs like Inter having 35k average attendances across full seasons in an 80k stadium.

That league was dead for a few years.

That’s not a model we should look at and think ‘oh well, it’s happened elsewhere’ *shrugs shoulders *… that should be a model to look at and think ‘oi City, this has fucking happened elsewhere!’ *points fingers*.

There is no doubt in my mind why Liverpool, United, Arsenal , Barcelona etc are full and we not.
Anfield is not full of local Liverpool supportes. Its turist and not all of them are die hard Liverpool supportes.

I live in Iceland and I know that the same story goes for Norway and Sweden, Danmark and other europen countries.
tourist come all year arond to Manchester, London and Liverpool. I see ad every day "go to UK and see a football match ", the only teams that get mention in those adds are Liverpool, Manchester United, Arsenal sometime Chelsea.
Go experiance the atmosphere at Anfield drink it in.

Manchester City is painted a soulless club with no atmosphere a cheats and plastic with half empty stadium.

This has been hammered into people for 15 years , in podcasts, in news and everywere.
For the tourist who are not all in like we are and we have to admit they are the ones who are filling , Anfield and Old Trafford. They see it like going to the movies or theater they read the "review" going to Etihad and it is not good read.

We all know how the Etihad can be as good as any ground in the world for the right games, I was at Etihad for the Aquero moment and I know that not a single Liverpool fan has ever experiance anything like it.

But others dont know that .

The media,#115 and other things has hurt us realy bad and is the main reason why Etihad is not always full.

I know this for a fact I know how City are talked about , I know that people non City fans dont want to go to a City match because they think that its no fun, But I know non Liverpool fan want to go to Anfield because they have been told its such a experiance nothing like it.

City is also to blame, they unlike others clubs we are competing with have no PR nothing.
They dont care if there are empty seats, Liverpool PR hides it when there are empty seats at Anfield wich happenes.

I read somewhere that the belief is it was built so the stadium qualifies to host CL finals.
Ha ha, how many of those will they get?
The media,#115 and other things has hurt us realy bad and is the main reason why Etihad is not always full.
So it is nothing to do with the actual ballache of getting there then?

I posted something similar earlier today. We have an image problem. We are stuck in a "doom loop" where the attendances and atmosphere are dropping off and making this worse. I've posted many times before that our PR is all wrong too.

Nice try Dave. Where did I say I am "not "currently going??" I meant next season.

Been to every game as I was last night. My annoyance is the whole fiasco of transfer of tickets etc. It's ludicrous that people cannot just send a ticket to a mate (unless nominated) now.

Try a bit harder next time-I know you were pissed with my opinion regarding your chum lawyer....

Will be my last year on certain cup schemes the experience is awful, the benefits hardly exist other than a token fiver off tickets. Last night confirmed the time effort and expense are not worth it, it's like being an away fan in your own ground, our name is Manchester City but because of soriano we could literally be anyone, we have no culture no identity and the biggest disappointment, the club despite all the negatives press and 115, they have turned their backs on their biggest ally, I hope they are suitably embarrassed about last night, but they won't be.
They have a dj that plays mancunian songs tho..

Exactly! Think its just the rome derby and Milan derby that sells out constantly. Currently hoping to do a Torino and Ac Milan game in same weekend before seasons over!

100% lost all the money in early 90s and now ALL their games are on TV live. No reason for fans to go in!

Like what some of our social media 'celebs' say, we don't have people working at the club with our best interests at heart. Needs a major reshuffle, in the VIP boxes one of the girls who hosted us admitted she's a Chelsea fan and only works for us as she's based in London and can work from our office.
Club should put the CL League Phase games into the standard Season Ticket, what's 4 home games to the club, especially when they have the North Stand opening soon?

That would be a good idea! Surprised its not been mentioned before!

Yeah, you stay at home next season, mate. Good work.

Whilst i dont disagree as such, the kids ARE choosing City.
As a micro example, i live in a small town 15 miles out of manchester. Most of the kids in my 10 year olds class are blues.
One lad his dad is a big arsenal supporting cockney, his lads a blue. No other blues in a family of arse on one side and rags in the other.
Amongst the “dads group” of the younger kids there is unusually a lot of blokes who have moved into the area from all over the country, coventry (cov fan), ireland (newcastle), boro fan, a geordie, halifax (leeds), some even are regular attenders at those clubs, who do their sons support? CITY!!!!

Can they get tickets? Not easily no

There was a total open net for the club to bank the next generation of supporters and they hit row z!
The club dont do community work at schools like they used to. All it would have taken was a modern day junior blues like in the 70s (ironically that support saved us in the 80s) to set in stone these future blues, but the club ballsed it up!!

So i agree that the clubs rep is tarnished to a point but how have they combated that? By galvanising the support? Dragging new ones in? Backs to the wall in it together?
Nope none of the above. The opposite in fact.
Therell be a case study at some point about how city fucked this up

What a fuckin shame
A new junior blues would of meant the prima donna players having to interact with local Manchester kids ,they only give a fuck about growing the brand on overseas tours by meeting overseas kids .
Besides the photo opp Christmas hospital visit they couldn't give a shite about Manchester kids ,I actually think citizens competitions are fixed to overseas winners.

It was the case but since Covid the Italian gates in serie A have increased massively both Milan clubs now average around 70000 and Roma over 60000.

If anyone has been to an Italian game or to watch City play an Italian team, one of the primary reasons as to why attendances plummeted was because of how dilapidated the stadiums have become.

They are old, not fan or family friendly, and in parts un-safe.

I also could be wrong here, but I am sure I read that you can watch every Serie A game on TV in Italy. That was pointed at as a reason why attendances are down.
