Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Absolutely mediocre again , but come to expect nothing else nowadays. Don't think it helps that yet again players coming out onto the pitch to a half empty south stand which is meant to be our loudest, proudest area, but can't be arsed to get in the ground before the game actually starts
Really? One of the best this season from where I was sitting

I think I have a fairly balanced view on our atmosphere. When we are good, we have one of the loudest grounds in the league.

This season, from where I’m sat, I think it’s been really poor. The south stand in particular, other than the blocks right next to the away fans, have been so quiet. Even when we score or win now, there’s barely a cheer or a song. Obviously the entire ground needs to step up.

We desperately need a proper home end in my opinion.

Today was better, but not by much

I appreciate how much of a nightmare getting away from the ground can be and the shite transport links we have, but the empty seats on 85th minute today was embarrassing.

Just got back within 2 points of Arsenal, thought the crowd would have been well more up for it showing the appreciation to the boys and getting behind them.

Every club has their empty seats at the end of the game, but ours is awful…

I really don’t get it. Where do all these people have to be? Near me, It doesn’t matter what the game is or how big the game is, they all leave at 83 minutes on the dot.

I see quite a few of them sat on the bus waiting to leave after the game. It’s bizarre and makes me think they go out of habit.

Improved atmosphere today. Several songs went around the ground.

It was hard to make an impression at times because Sunderland were so good. Apart from the championship “library” type chanting.
I always like what you post, the atmosphere only kicked in when we scored the first goal. Always pockets of top south stand blues trying to generate the atmosphere. The rest seem a bit narky/entitled.

Fair play to those that managed to keep it going, despite the swathes of empty seats today
Agree. I was surprised at how many empty seats there were today, it took a good 5 mins or more after the kick off before the ground looked even remotely full. At kick off it looked half empty (or half full depending on your point of view).
There was a group of noisy kids at the back of 324, numerous chants of 'City' from them and they amused us all by chanting 'send him off' at the ref at the end.

It is mad. I stayed and clapped the team off and got the train home from Ashburys… loads of people around me clearly been stood there ages and had no idea about Sunderland’s red card
