Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Excellent vocal support last night from start to finish, some great old songs dug out to keep it going when it might have stopped. We just need the lyricists amongst our support to come up with new songs for all the players that are part of the team now, even use the old songs with new names if they fit Into it. Let’s drop the Amorim song until they are cemented back into 15th or 16th in the league.
Isn’t it great with plenty of away tickets and no tourists interested in a night at Huddersfield, same again for Swansea.

Couldn't make it but we sounded loud and proud through the TV.

I thought it was finally going to happen. Foden scores and I could hear his chant for about 30 seconds. I don’t understand why his chant hasn’t taken off. It’s brilliant and it’s an original by us. (Can’t start a fire)

Let’s get it going against Burnley. It’s madness that one of our own and arguably our best player isnt sung about.
Was "can't start a fire" started by us?

Not disagreeing, but I'd seriously never heard it until suffering the misfortune of getting a cheap ticket for England v Slovenia in Cologne

The following posts here are from the Foden chant thread, from June 2024 in response to a video of England fans singing it:

City were singing it at service station after fa cup final
I first heard it at cutting room square after winning the league against west ham.
Love it

Exactly this.

We actually need a 'songs' group who come up with variations/new songs/new words to existing songs.

Hate to mention it but the vile dippers have a group dedicated to new tunes/words !!

Another great cup away day with no tourists to be seen. The atmosphere in our end was good all the way through bar 15 mins after half time.
Pleased that Phillips got some recognition as well.
Their fans were awful as was the shambles getting into the ground.

Fantastic to be belting out the Edin, Vinny, Mario, Yaya songs in the first half. The volume went up in the second half. Great support for Phillips too.

Yes great songs, and at times dig them out to keep the atmosphere going, but it’s time we started coming up with songs for the present team players, getting behind them if they’re having a dip in form or a bad game, getting them to puff their chest out and pick their shoulders up, one thing that they all needed last season, and leave the old songs for the pubs and coaches pre and post matches.

We were singing that last night and on the bus home. Such a weird one that it doesn’t seem to take off. Just need to keep going with it.

I agree wenneed more songs for new players. Some of the songs are there mate. Phil Foden’s on Fire. City I’m in Love. We just need to get them going and sustain them.

Plus it’s a bit sad when we stop singing players’s songers like Ederson’s he’s Brazilian in the last year or two at the Club.!

Mixed feelings about last night as it was the loudest we've been for a long while and it was great to see so many old faces.

I just feel that songs about Yaya Toure and Pablo Zabaleta are more suitable for the coach or the concourse and don't do anything for the tempo or support the current players as they try to lift their performance.

Also there's a time and a place for the Amorim song and last night wasn't one of them..

It was the perfect opportunity to get the rousing and original CITY I'M IN LOVE reverberating around the away end as it's so aggressively upbeat and celebrates who we are and where we're heading

Failing that, just something that doesn't end " Ole Ole" or "He's one of our own"

The 'I'm a moron' song should be changed to "Erling Haaland".

The "Haaland, Haaland" chant doesn't do justice to the great man, nor does it build tuneful atmosphere !!

I agree. We need to just keep trying.

We can seemingly instantly sing about Donnarumma or Amiron, but not Phil after he’s just scored and everything he’s done for us.

Sometimes some of chants seem to take years to get going. The follow you everywhere one being a great example, that was mainly only sung in pubs and bars beforehand

Did the atmosphere come through on the TV? I got a text saying City fans were quiet early in the game. It certainly wasn't like that in the stadium.
