This is exactly why the 600 GA+ seats at the front of NSL2 will completely undermine the idea of an atmospheric home end.

600 seats in a 9,518 tier will be completely insignificant to the overall tier. Especially as they’ll be spread thin and only on a few rows. Plus they’re only GA+ seats, they’re not proper hospitality.

It’ll make as little an impact on what’s behind it as the white wall at the foot of the old Kippax did to the mass of fans behind it:

Plus in recent seasons, displays haven’t been as good in SSL0 because loads of fans don’t bother getting to their seats before kick off anymore (I’ll take a pic tomorrow to illustrate this). Many are only there for the new bar that was put in a few years back, not for displays pre-game.

It is slightly different. That section on the second tier of the South Stand is hospitality, not GA+.

It’s not just that section though, in ss2. On the atmosphere the second tier is often sat down and doesn’t join in with the singing, which as I said, stops it from spreading from ss1 and ss3

I talked a blue out of getting nicked on Wednesday. Dortmund fans were throwing into the home fans and players. Blues complained rightly and we're nearly getting lifted for it. Coppers we're scared to go in the dortmund end as didn't want to get kicked, cowards

Every big cup game our fans get shafted out of the south stand, why not move to the North Stand and have your seat/standing permanent ?

I don’t think it is a dead horse yet. This can still happen if the club push it. It doesn’t need the flag group who I agree have lost their way.

So if it turns out the atmosphere is poor how many are going to say i told you so ?
The club don't need to do any more, they have done their bit with the 3000 standing section, and if the prices are bang on then bingo !
The 'fan' groups need to get behind it, do you not see that ?

It isn't.

It's not about 3000 safe standing seats, it's about like minded fans and singers getting together in large enough numbers to make a difference to the atmosphere inside the Etihad

The safe standing section on NSL2 will just be like the safe standing section on SSL1 filled with fans who want to sing and want to create an atmosphere, fans who will join in with the singing every now and again, and fans who have no or little interest in singing. On top of that, unlike SSL1, there will be GA and GA+ seating in front and to the sides of the safe standing sections, alongside hotel balconies at the back of the safe standing singing section. The fan makeup on NSL1 will be general fans, football tourists, day trippers, people staying at the hotel taking the match in as a weekend trip to MCR, hospitality, etc.

Yes, there will be singing and support on NSL2, but it will be exactly like SSL1, sporadic, not continuous.

Last night

I've read elsewhere that the singers who were standing at the front of SSL2 last night were told to sit down by the fans who were sat down behind them.

NSL2 will be just the same as the spuds “home end”. Occasionally loud but fuck all for large periods. Huge fuck up by the club.

1894 have a membership who signal to them what they want. Can’t just base it off one or two loudmouths on bluemoon who have always sat on their hands

I’m struggling to comprehend how Pride In Wumming thinks you of all people want it to fail mate. After all, you’re one of the most active participants in the North Stand construction thread, and have given up hours and hours of your spare time taking photos of the ongoing development.

Yep, definitely the behaviour of someone who wants it to fail ;)

Or like south 3 with pockets trying to sing and most people sat down

You also have the new hospitality areas full of non City fans who will no doubt clash with our fans when they jump up and celebrate a goal

Think Madrid at home but most weeks
