Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Must in a minority, didnt think it was really that bad yesterday. Experienced worse. I dont know why anyone would want to spend the amount it costs to attend a game and not get involved in chanting /singing/shouting thats the best part, even if the game is shit. Some people are shy, they need someone to take the lead. Fait enough. Once a few do that Its easy though imo, forget about empty seats, tourists, away fans, other grounds, bad performance, the weather, The acoustics etc etc. Hey jude> kick off - Blue moon>come on city x 10 > best team in world X 10. nice and simple and should be enough get the quietest fan going and joining in, having a good time and set the tone for the rest of the game.
The version of Bluemoon we have does nothing but stop actual singing when it shifts to the fast clapping part, best thing we can do is fuck that off for a start.

Lad in 1894 told me they’ve asked the club countless times to change it and they refuse to do so.

Club sees it as part of the ‘Matchday experience’.

Welcome to Disneyland, kids.

Season ticket holder 98-13, moved away, now attend usually 5-10 games a season and a sprinkle of away matches when I can get a ticket.

I go to matches on my own and get tickets in different parts of the ground. Yesterday I found myself in SSL1 right next to the Leeds fans. I've always thought our atmosphere could be improved but never felt like posting here until today. It was embarrassing and the Leeds fans reminded me of what is was like when we were shit and being good fans was all we had. I wouldn't swap it for the winning, but I really miss those days.

Being solo and having a really weedy voice I'm never going to be singing on my own. So I need those around me to sing, then I'll definitely join in. I think there must be so many people like this. To be honest, not singing should be more embarrassing than singing, so that's partly a mentality shift. All of which would be helped by consumption of more alcohol.

One thing that has always been there but has got much worse since our success is that we've become a lot more "sing when you're winning". It's ironic that when the team need us the most, we're not there for them. See also arriving late/disappearing early. Again, just a mentality shift.

And finally, something I really miss from Maine Road and was reminded of yesterday, is the way the individual stands would egg each other on. North Stand, Kippax, Platt Lane getting each other going and taking the piss out of the normally silent Main Stand.

TL;DR - let's drink more, tut more at people leaving early, and take the piss out of fans in the other stands. You're welcome.

So are City claiming it was Blue on Blue yesterday???
To be honest it could be anyone in corporate. I have been lucky enough to do quite a few corporate invites at City away games including Leeds, Liverpool, and United. There are always a few random drunken morons knocking about who don't even support the teams who are playing. One of the worst corporate scraps I have seen was at Easter Road when Hibs were playing Rangers. All sorts of wankers were involved from mutiple clubs including Rangers and Hibs. A bit like these scraps you see at race meetings. Not defending the club though. Surely they should have tight security in corporate areas where rival fans will always mix to some extent.

I believe Tim of the Oak who comes across as a stand up guy and has no reason to lie rather than some paid lackey at City parroting bullshit to fob people off
Tim is someone who is very loyal to the City boardroom. Compared to the general disdain we feel they hold our fanbase, he often sticks up for them. He’s also a head of a Supporters Club.

For him to go as far as that yesterday means it must have been serious and he will have been sure.

Plus he wasn’t the only one who said or witnessed it.

To quote the club" following internal investigations we can confirm this incident did not involve leeds fans", lieing cunts.
The same type of rigorous internal investigations which determined nothing could be done about a Dipper seriously injuring a young female Blue with a pint pot of coins.

The PR team did a cracking job of issuing that joint apology, though.

Well this just got spicy. Real muddy waters on what has actually gone on here so hard to really hold an opinion until the truth comes out.

Someone isn't being truthful here though, and if it's the club then there's going to be a big stink kicked up and rightly so.
Hmmm, do we believe a couple of long-term posters on here who have no need to make stuff up or the club spinning/protecting the brand?

You can believe both - the posters on here stated that one of the 3 Yorkshire lads was actually a city season ticket holder, the other 2 Leeds fans were his mates, if its him who handed out the beating then technically the club are correct in that no Leeds fans where involved in the incident , they are however conveniently ignoring the issue that it was them allowing the other 2 Leeds fans in the home area that caused the issue.

Exactly!

It seems as though everyone has posted in good faith but maybe without the actual context.

However if you're 100% certain that you've just witnessed a serious assault, then surely you should be reporting the incident to the relevant people (regardless off what football team they support) rather than commenting on a football forum

Some people seem to be more focused on which football team the perpetrator supports than the actual offence and whether it was in self defence.or premeditated thuggery

I honestly don’t know how City fix the atmosphere at the Etihad anymore. On Tuesday, when Blue Moon came up on the screen, hardly anyone sang nothing. It had to be pumped through the speakers instead.

City have priced out so many fans. It’s £35 just for membership, and even then, unless you’ve already built up purchase history, you’ve got no chance of getting a ticket. Otherwise, you’re left with Champions League or cup games, which are basically tourist central nowadays.

I’ve been to a few away matches and the difference is unbelievable. The atmosphere is incredible everyone’s welcoming, you can chat with fellow Blues, and it actually feels like a proper matchday. At home, though, it’s like a funeral. Nobody talks, and you only hear any singing if the South Stand manages to get something going.

I’m worried about what happens when Pep eventually leaves. The atmosphere will only get worse. Half the tourists are only there for Haaland or Pep. Take them out of the equation and we’d struggle to fill the South Stand.
