Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Carabao Cup effect I reckon. Most oldies have a fond affection to it due to it being our last trophy winning memory for such a long time until 2011. Plus all the games are night matches which are easier for FOCs to attend.

Therefore more FOCs in the CC cup scheme by my reasoning.

But 24k points should be enough for the derby, I agree. That’s about 20 years worth of season tickets and cup schemes, without doing the maths.
Pretty sure it went to 24k before it sold out

One super fan poster claims they always wait behind 15 minutes after home games being starting to leave.

I thought they were chatting rhubarb, or their time perception isn't great, or both.

Sounds like you do not believe people stay after the final whistle.
On the contrary many do, but I haven't read about anyone claiming to be a super fan.

Especially @mancityvstoke

Bert, you ask a lot of questions, but you don’t have any ideas and any answers yourself.

Fire away.

jrb - are you in a position to respond my post below?

You asked for ideas as part of the ongoing discussion. I have outlined these as requested.

It would be good to hear your thoughts.

In particular, if the focus is on what is the best opportunity to lift the atmosphere in the near future -

  1. how will the current stance to try and encourage a few more fans into South Stand lower (level ) make any real difference to the atmosphere?
  2. how will the inherent split between the South Stand lower, middle, and upper levels and Kippax corner together with the associated detrimental impact on being able to create a great atmosphere, ever be overcome?
  3. how can those fans in the SS lower ever overcome away fans from normally dominating almost all cup games in City`s so called home end (and sometimes in PL matches too) ?

"Atmosphere and the atmosphere group

It was a great result and very good performance last night, JRB.

You have asked for answers and invited me to fire away. Here are suggestions -

1.1894 take a long pause and take time to re-assess their current stance. Give careful thought to what is the best opportunity for improving the atmosphere.

2. Then, positively lead and encourage its members, to improve atmosphere and create a big home end on ONE level, by re-locating to the North Stand.

3. Positively encourage those in South Stand lower (level 0), Kippax Corner, South Stand Upper (level 3) and fans from other parts of the stadium, to establish themselves in the North Stand.

4. Promote this as a great opportunity to re-invigorate the membership and uplift the atmosphere. Pull together in the same direction.

5. Act as a conduit through City Matters to achieve the above.

Naturally some fans will want to remain where they are are for a variety of reasons. Change does not come naturally to many. However change can be the best action ever for many more.

You also mentioned the questions that had been raised and facts presented which many fans agree with.

Fundamental questions to 1894 are -
  1. how will the current stance to try and get a few more fans into South Stand lower (level ) make any real difference to the atmosphere?
  2. how will the inherent split between the SS lower, middle, and upper levels and Kippax corner together with the associated detrimental impact on great atmosphere creation, ever be overcome?
  3. how do you intend to overcome away fans normally dominating almost all cup games in City`s so called home end?
Prices
These will be announced by the club.

It is reasonable to work out that (1) the North Stand safe standing will be less than the South Stand lower (level 0) current prices; and (2) the North Stand safe standing will be no more than the current South Stand upper rear seats (rear level 3). Do you agree?

Displays / flags
There is scope for these still in the North Stand.

General Admission
9,200 approx. general admission / safe standing tickets is no more of mish mash than the current 3,000 safe standing in the SS lower ( level 0) whose profile is also mixed.

Given the above and whilst waiting for further information from the club, why did someone think that it was good idea to adopt a premature position and produce questionnaire for a limited reach too early in the process?

No one gats it right all the time and that includes the club. However lets focus on what we can do as fans. I therefore go back to point 1 above and suggest that time is now taken to re-assess the current stance and give careful thought to what is the best opportunity for improving the atmosphere now and in the future."

No one takes Corky seriously mate . He is off his rocker.

There are no super fans apart from

@gordondaviesmoustache

He outshines us all ;)

Wonder how the new stand will affect the atmosphere. I think it will definitely help in the big games.
Hopefully the new gen blues ( maybe in another generation) along with the FOC singers who move there will create something we never thought possible

When I have stayed they are asking you to leave after around 5 mins, whilst one super fan on the forum claims she stays 15 minutes every game and has never been asked to leave.

I'm not sure why 4 blocks away it would be the complete opposite to where I am, and 70% of what is said on here is bollocks anyway.

Hi Bert.

I appreciate the long reply.

Thank you.

But we’ve all discussed it death, and then again.

We’re now waiting on the club to announce details.

Once the club do that we can take the conversation on to the next stage.

I think the club have killed our away ends at places like United, Liverpool and Arsenal. I wasn’t there today, but it looked like a lot of half and half wearers and people at their first game.

Newcastle in the cup seemed and sounded so much better, at 0-0 as well

Pep's tactics and the teams performance sucked the life out of our support.

There was literally nothing to cheer about from the first minute to the last minute.

As soon as United scored, which we all knew it was coming, our support died.
What happened to supporting the team when they aren’t playing well?

I keep hearing we are at our best when the team needs us. Maybe 30 years ago, but as soon as we don’t play well or go 1-0 down we don’t get behind them

Of course if we are getting battered, I’m not expecting 90. Minutes of singing, but it’s happening when it’s 0-0 most weeks or even when we are winning

We are now a fan base that expects the players to give us something to chear for before we make any noise rather than inspiring them to want to play for us, as evidenced by the constant excuse of "sideways football" being a contributor to our ever worsening atmosphere.
