Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

The music before the game and after was absolutely horrendous. You couldn’t join in with and it didn’t make you feel anything either. Who on earth thought that was good?
City have employees and a department that come up with these ideas. That is their job at the club.

It’s crazy to think they pay a team of people to come up with these ideas and that same team seem to have no understanding of our fanbase at all.

I’m noticing more and more people going to the concourse at half time as well. I am, just to avoid listening to the cringe kids show

I didn't get the post-match offering but even if Blue Moon were sung by the long-lamented Margarita Prakatan it'd still be good.

I don’t know if this is the right place for it but as the original “Kill The Cheese” whinger from back before the war was lost, I feel unreasonably irritated every single game when I see a lone DJ pointlessly banging out cheesy commercial house music at full volume from a stage outside the main entrance with literally nobody giving a shit.

What a waste of time and money. Are they expecting a load of blues to pop a couple of Party Smarties and start having it large on the spirals or summat?

Longtime Manchester City supporter Chris announced he's done with his Etihad season ticket, fed up with soaring prices, tourist crowds, half-and-half scarves, and a stale atmosphere. His post followed a recent Carabao Cup win over Newcastle amid visible empty seats in the 55,000-capacity stadium, drawing thousands of echoes from fans across clubs like Liverpool and Newcastle who feel priced out and sidelined. While some dismiss the complaints and point to sold-out 2025/26 tickets, others warn the club risks losing core loyalty amid fixture pileups and new attendance rules.

I was a huge supporter of your ‘Kill the Cheese’ campaign back in the day. Needs to be resurrected

It's probably not a top priotity, however the music used in the stadium pre-match gets worse and worse every season. What is their instance on remixing every song to ever come out of Manchester?

Who's idea is it to put a techno house beat behind Joy Division? Who's idea is it to provide an EDM remix of Supersonic? It's just garbage. Every week, and especially every mid-week night match, my eyes must roll back so far out of my head they end up back at Maine Road. It's like the club saw the Sunderland documentary where the new CEO explains the ideas behind changing the walkout music, and thinking it was a good idea.

I know it sounds petty, but for the club make a big point about getting into the ground early, only to play such horrendous music right before kick off shows that they have no idea as to what will actually get fans singing...
The music played is terrible. ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ is arguably the greatest Manchester song of all-time, it doesn’t need any kind of remix… especially not one that is too fast to join in with singing it… and that’s shite!

No offence to that little girl singing ‘Blue Moon’ but there were people all around turning to each other and pulling their faces at it. And the big ‘BLUUEEE MOOOOOOOOON’ at the end was painful.

That stupid ‘Supersonic’ dance mix you mentioned and there’s another one that’s a dance mix of ‘Pounding’ by Doves mashed with ‘Blue Monday’ by New Order that is also shite.

Just play the original songs.

Even the ‘normal’ version of Blue Moon is atrocious

Blue Moon is a bit of a turgid song, but it's ours and I don't mind it being belted out during the game etc., it can sound great

But I think before the game is a bit shit, not many people are really behind it. Unsure how feasible it is to get a new pre match anthem though!!!

Oh back in the day at Maine Road. No music just very much it was right in the background and the Kippax crackling with a buzz of anticipation. It was crowd noise back then that did it. Fondly remembered

Think you guys need to be up for it now starting Wednesday no silly points dropped at home
