Atmosphere Thread | 2025/26

Pep loved it too, called it the best of the season.

5 more home league games, potentially 4 more home champions league games and hopefully 1 more home FA Cup and then the rest is on our great away support and the shit loads that fill Wembley.

Time to get the lads over the line.

What time do you have to leave for a 12:30 ko? Swings and roundabouts in your case I suspect.

This is about the atmosphere and there is no doubt last night was fantastic, 12:30 would have been flat as fuck.
Agree completely about the 12:30 slot, but it also helps when it's a great game, with a crucial result, and last night would have been equally atmospheric if it was a 5:30 kick off.

Perfect storm last night, lots of jeopardy, game played at a fast pace (transition football), many had enjoyed a few pre-match drinks, match under the lights. Got to keep it up now for the next 4 games.

80 quid in petrol, 60 quid hotel, 20 quid in tolls, 15 quid for breakfast (just outside Oxford) and still 1 and a half hours from home, but worth every penny.

Annoyingly, after some appalling atmospheres and poor attendances in 9 home games already in 2026, just as we get something going with a decent atmosphere and attendance last night, we’ve barely got any home games now for months.

We’ll have the Palace game slotted in somewhere and the CL Ro16, but the only scheduled PL game between now and 18th April when we play Arsenal, is Forest.

Tin hat on. :-)

Just to clarify and to make it clear.

I wasn’t criticising the fans and the other stands last night for not supporting the team, singing and creating an atmosphere.

Like most of you I thought last nights support and atmosphere created by all the fans and all the stands was superb. A proper throwback to what our stadium support used to be like in previous title run-ins

The point I was trying to make whilst drunk, up since 3:30am, in work, straight to town, drinking in town and at the Etihad, was the other stands could have been a bit more constant in their support throughout the match. I’ll exclude SSL3 as I can’t see or hear them standing close to the concrete overhang on SSL1.

Overall I thought last nights support was superb, and was up there with our best atmospheres this season. Pep thought that as well. So did the match commentator on Match Of The Day.

Well done everyone for the great support and atmosphere last night. Which included shutting the Geordies up.

Had to skip it last night. Other half got taken into A&E yesterday morning and it looked like she was coming out mid-afternoon as they said all her tests had come back clear, so I headed into town as planned for a few pre-match scoops with some mates. Anyway, I was half way down my first pint when she texted to say they’d had a rethink and were keeping her in overnight for some more tests. She told me to still go to the match but it wasn’t the right thing to do as I needed to take some stuff up once she had gotten a bed on a ward. That was confirmed after 6pm and it was just after I transferred my ticket to someone else. Me and her son headed up to Tameside hospital to drop some things off. Got out of there just before 8pm so technically I could’ve still gone to the game if I’d not transferred my ticket, albeit I’d have gotten in late.

Anyway, I don’t have TNT Sport so I went to the pub to watch it. Caught the last few minutes of the first half and all the second. The atmosphere sounded great in the main and you could tell all 4 stands were getting involved. Could hear the Geordies a few times second half but on most of those occasions our fans drowned them out with chants that spread across the whole stadium.

Might be covered elsewhere but what the hell was the commotion in the north stand lower that carried on for ages last night with a dozen or so stewards involved?

AAFC refers to Ardwick Association Football Club, the name Manchester City used from 1887 to 1894 before adopting their current name. Based in the Ardwick area of Manchester, the club was a predecessor to the modern Manchester City FC, which was founded officially in 1894 after financial reorganization.
Cheers had a feeling it may be to do with Ardwick but I never knew about the Association part in the name. Thanks for the lesson
