Thursday Nights. 16 years old and getting getting the digits wet. Life will never hit these heights again!

Thurs night in Ashton, student night. £1 a drink in Chambers then on to Camel Bar then Beach Bar etc etc.

Then off to Atomic, my them were the days. Walk past that place every day, think it's some kind of Indian buffet but never seen anyone go in.

Nearly the same route i went. We did Bar Centro, then Chambers for £1 bottles, then Chaplins and the girls had blue lagoons/the lads Tequilla shots at 50p a go. Then onto Atomic. Second ever Thursday out, some absolutely blotto (yet stunning) bird that was about 21 staggered over and shoved the tongue into Mr Innocent here. Tops and bottoms, she staggered off, and i was just sat in a daze in college for a 2 hour free period i had to start every Friday!

Atomic changed to Spectrum, was open for about 8 weeks and shut. Turned into an Indian restaurant which closed years ago, leaving the place to rot. Was weird walking through Old St on a Friday around midnight last year to get to the Witchwood and Ashton was absolutely deserted. Apart from about 4 kids sat outside Mynt Lounge. I know it has been bad for a while after all the trouble and shootings around 2002/2003, but was still aghast!

this thread bring a tear to my eye remembering the good/bad old days when i was to young to get in anywhere decent

Haha I started in Bar Centro too I just couldn't remember the name of it. The Old Fire Station now.

I saw Jason Donoavan appear live in Atomic, he got pelted with coins.

Yeah Ashton has gone down a lot in terms of nightlife, in fact I don't think there is a nightlife apart from The Witchwood which gets busy at weekends but that's a specific clientele I guess.
 
I used to frequent Love Shack on a thursday night as all the women got free drink tokens and used to give me the free pint of lager. I used to get ruined for nothing.

Oh yeah ladies night in Love Shack.

I used to love Bar One with it's death trap staircase. Was gutted when it closed.

Did anyone go in Dr Browns on a Sat and get the coach to that club in Rochdale??

Yep, had a few nights in there (usually Fridays)! Was closed for around 6 years with the sign still up and everything, but now it is solicitors offices i think. Used to have our own spot near the window upstairs near the fire exit, always shit it as thought i would get pushed through the window at any time with Ashton's reputation of old :-)

Chambers boarded up, Bedroom too (which was the Pitt and Nelson when i was down there), i think the Player is even closed. Chute bar has gone. Too many to mention. Ghost town!
 
Chambers, Camel, Bar one and love shack before atomic.

Went to Atomic one New Year prob 2003 but the line to get in was massive, so we didn't bother going in. That was the night a few people got stabbed.

Spent every Thursday night there at the age of 16/17 and thought it was brilliant. But really it was shite really looking back.
