We fell short last year playing the, sit back and wait to counter game...remember? The more respect we give them the more time on the ball they get, and thats fatal.
Only way to beat them is to get into the places they dont like. We simply must play to win the game by scoring goals, not sitting back and inviting them on to us like times of old. Like i said go for the throat, they are not what they were!!

this. we cant afford sit off them and allow them to play in our half, last year showed that this was fatal. we need to take our game to them, like on sunday with yaya bombing forward and silva picking out passes.

we have a good enough team to not worry about being vunerable at the back (unless bridge and richards are at full back!) we need to enter the game knowing we can win, adopting a mentality of winning and not of "we will take a point to united at home"

As long we avoid playing Wayne Bridge, Micah Richards, or SWP we should do well against any team! All these players are gung-ho or poor at keeping possession nowadays.

Build a solid back four: Boateng, Kolo, Komany Kolarov

Then build a sturdy mid: De Jong, Yaya, Barry,

Then let's roll with the counter attacking: Silva, Tevez, Johnson

Not sure about Shauny Wright, what ever form hes in he always pulls his finger out when we play United.
Like last year his roasted Erva a few times, I think we should bring him on in the 2nd half! Don't think we should start him though :-)

I think the key is defend defend defend and attack on the counter. If you attack attack, you risk being open on the counter.

its all about balance

play like we did against west brom ( i know utd are a much better team) and we have a good chance of winning......

go to defensive and invite them on like we have done in the past and we could easily get beaten

i wouldnt play a front 3 of tev aj and silva

play ade with the instructions to stay up top...let tev drift and affect the game along with silva.....

same midfield as vs west brom

same back 4 (unless you swap kolorov for zabba...though he doesnt deserve that)

I actually agree with the OP. I'm a Mancini fan but this is the most defensively vulnerable rag team in the last 20 years. Playing cautiously will play into their hands and give them confidence. We are also the only PL team yet to score a header. That's got to end soon ...

Exactly the same at CoMS last season and we never went for the jugular. They are flaky at the back, the midfield has little to offer and if the dog-eating dog has to do the business up front we start with a decent shout. BUT THIS IS A DERBY, IT IS MANUre, THERE COULD BE 99MINS, AND I THINK THEY WILL HAVE A FERGIE REF, so just a teeny-weeny bit of caution. Defend for half an hour after the final final final whistle and we should be ok.

i would be very surprised if he does not go for this team myself,but i have a feeling milner may get in over johnson for some reason
