Attacks in Paris

On the subject of video games encouraging violence I think the issue is far from clear cut

On the subject of indoctrination I'm sure you're right.

I'm surprised at bimbo there, hes very matter of fact...

Entirely true, as you stated., with his views on indoctrination, however, as someone from the social science domain, he's categorically wrong on the cognitive damage of video games and links to violence!!!

No there isn't, if you think Islamists are interested in money you are sadly mistaken, their aim is world domination whether it takes 5 years or 500 years that is their sole aim, you cannot bribe these nutters with jobs and money, most of the European and American recruits to IS already had that and gave it all up to fight for their caliphate

No, the aim of the twats that brainwash the knuckle draggers on the ground is world domination, which isn't going to happen. What they have however is a vast number of disaffected young people, angry young Men, whether they grew up in Tunis or Luton. The poison spouted by the Imams finds a fertile breeding ground in the minds of those who are generally angry at their lot, and somebody who says 'it's all the fault of these people, not your fault' will usually find plenty of people who agree. But If you do something about the conditions in which that disaffection spreads, you do something about reducing the pool of 'talent' from which the twats bent on world domination can recruit.

This is exactly what has happened in Northern Ireland. The people who once wanted others to go out and kill in the name of a united Ireland, but the lack of funding since 9/11 and the greater economic opportunities for young people in Northern Ireland means that there has been a severe shortage of willing volunteers in the last 10-15 years

Twitter is full of old stories being shared as if its new, apparently Israels PM warned France about recognizing Palestine as a state.

Some proper far fetched shite flying about.

A. It's wikipedia.
B. Theories. As I said, there's no proof of any links between games and violence.

But, as a race, we are always looking for reasons and excuses. Things to blame for our actions. A young kid kills someone else and the old "well, he liked to play Call of Duty online" line is used. It's an easy fix.

Except it isn't really, it's just lazy reporting and a complete lack of understanding gaming as a whole.

There are links Zin, but nothing has ever been proved. As George posted, it's all theories.

The thing with this area mate is the time scales... The original papers that were submitted into the psychology journals were around 2001/2, the games have intensified over the last 5/6 years in there realism, however, the effects won't be seen in 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation gamers but in 4th, 5th etc..... The reason is down to cognitive development in the service user, for example, those from the 1st pot (1st, 2nd and 3rd) are less likely due to ones age and ability to regulate through comparison, those from the second pot, confuse reality due to lacking the social development, normally because of age constraints.... This is indeed theory, a brilliant psychologist named Bennat, hypothesises the above... I'm inclined to agree pal!!!!

Looks like the west will finally get its war against Syria after all as a result of this "terrorist attack".

Coincidence much?

As sure as day follows night, within 24 hours of any atrocity there will be people suggesting it was a false flag operation and others claiming Israel was involved.

So I'm in pot 1.

I would suggest that although games do indeed look more 'real' these days, realism, has always been there, just implied, or in the head of the user.

Take GTA. Original a top down game, graphically poor by today's standards, it still portrayed a realistic city albeit one that was a cartoon version. Cars moved, people walked about etc etc.
The latest game is just a 3D version of this, graphically superior but still a similar game. Driving around, doing things. The city is still a stylised version of a real one much like the original game.

Both games, old and new, were/ have been slated in the media for causing violence in teens which is lazy journalism especially as it is based on theory.

Still, it would be interesting to see results. Genuinely.

A 41-year-old man from France is being questioned by police after “what appears to be a firearm” was discovered at Gatwick airport, Sussex police said.

Survivors being evacuated by bus after the Bataclan theatre shooting.

I can see a few thousand yard stares there :-(

George was trying to deflect attention away from a fucked up attack in the name of a religion, seems he has had the result he wanted.
