Average Premiership attendances club by club

Well done Wolves, 99.3% even for a club just back into the top tier is a superb achievement.
It would be interesing to see these percentages compared to the number of 3pm Saturday kick offs!!!!!!
Why? The ground only holds 29,000. Not exactly hard to fill for a city like Wolverhampton. Percentages mean absolutely nothing. I doubt Chelsea could find another 20,000 tourists if they played at The Emirates.

Could definitely justify a stadium with about 10,000-15,000 more seats, though.

The list you have would include corporate hospitality, because every Chelsea game this season has sold out to members according to the website, but they always advertise the hospitality tickets. It's also worth baring in mind that away supports will be bigger in areas that have lots of derbies and to larger teams (so Chelsea, Arsenal, United, City, Liverpool, Spurs, Villa) and also the prices that some teams charge- i.e Chelsea, Spurs, Arsenal charge way more than Wigan, Burnley etc.

There are 48,000 seats at COMS, but you lose about 500 seats to segregation between the home and away support, so if you recalculate the average versus the reduced practical capacity, I reckon the average to actually be 95.4% of capacity.

I've no idea whether the other stadium capacities are accurate, or whether the likes of Wigan and Fulham also take a minibus full on their away days elsewhere, thus leaving thousands of seats unsold...

Arsenal 99.1% - No chance. Most of the game son TV they've had a few thousand empty seats - even the commentators have said it. Then the PA says "Thanks for your support with an attendance of 60K+ - They count the season ticket holders even if they don't turn up - Do many other club do this?

I pointed out to Liverpool fan that we get bigger gates than them and they went on a proper rant about us having a bigger stadium and selling kids tickets cheap etc..

They then went on to tell me that Liverpool had 50,000 waiting list for season tickets. This can't be true can it?

Think they were just pissed off that we will finish higher :o)
Well how come they only had 37,000 against West Ham a couple of weeks ago, where was the 50,000 waiting list for this game?

They will always keep back a % of tickets to be sold on a match by match basis. As for the 50,000 waiting list, hmmm well I know they had one as my Liverpool supporting mate had to wait about 8 years before he could get his, but that was back in the late 90s. Given their troubles I expect a lot of the people on the list (who were probably glory supporters anyway) have dropped off.

If Liverpool had 50,000 on a waiting list then they would of be selling out EVERY game. It's bullshit, Liverpool's matchday attendances have always been poor when you compare them against other clubs.

It's a little off seeing as our capacity is like 630 less than shown

I was thinking the same thing..... if they are going to give such statistics, they should try and get their facts right about capacities.

-- Fri May 07, 2010 7:40 am --

Their excuse was that fans had set off to Spain by road for the 1st leg of the Semi....... they only had 600 or 700 fans at the away leg!
