Away fans / tourists in home sections

The first thing (of many) i would like to see is the club get shut of the scarf traders, i would hope there is a law that they can use to stop them selling half n half scarves on property that belongs to the club, soon as you walk up the steps from the metrolink they are there pestering everyone shouting 'matchday scarves'.
But......are the club bothered, we all know the answer to that!!
Think they are on land owned by Metro so it is a matter for them not the club.

Yup, I was in 314 last night, didn't get my season ticket seats where we sit, so got 2 in there, could not believe my eyes, no more mixed zone for us in the future that's for sure.
Hi mate
You mentioned no more mixed zone?
Was that just on the basis of what you saw or did city sell you your tickets as a mixed zone ?

Reading through this is a scary glimpse of what could be the future for us. I like many others have sat in the home end at loads of grounds (and I'll be in with you lot on Saturday too ) but it's always done with respect keeping quiet (not normally much to celebrate for us in fairness) completely out of order to do it openly wearing colours etc. I was at your place earlier in the season with my little lad and we were surrounded by Twente fans (think you were playing Watford??). Hope something happens to mitigate the issue before something bad happens.

When Newcastle become successful, and your owners build a new 70,000 stadium, at least you will know what's to come. The other Newcastle fans won't.

The issue will never go away. Any person can buy a membership and apply for tickets. There were thousands of unsold tickets by the time it got down to members for last night's game. When I checked last week after the all season ticket holders window had passed, there were blocks with hundreds left in them, all over.

It will only get worse, and the only way it will stop is if Season Ticket holders start attending.

Unfortunately, the only way that's going to happen is if a) they reduce prices drastically or b) they include all Champions League games in your Season Ticket price and make it compulsory. But I cant see either of those options happening anytime soon.

I have seen security moving them back towards the steps on some occasions, I guess that somewhere there is a “border” between MCFC and Metrolink land? You would have thought the club could liaise with Metrolink on that (partially blocking the exit?) but that would involve both will and competence from both parties!

we need one massive section for hard core blues, if it isn't going to be the new north stand then find a way to shift the aways to another part of the ground Ideally the east stand near to where they are now.
the tourist fans can go where they want to go......at least we will get some singing in unison with a full south stand of proper fans this way !

Block 314. I've had inter fans feyenoord fans and now Madrid.
This purchase history criteria is bollocks.
These people are just buying a membership and getting a ticket.
I'm not renewing cup scheme next year. But I suppose this is what the club wants. They don't want me getting my ticket for £37. They want to sell it to a day tripper for double that.

Yeah im in 314 aswell, last night was the worst by far but its the price of success, as everyone keeps telling me.

See you Saturday and wherever they stick us for the Plymouth game, doubt there will be as many none reactions from people round me should we score in any of them

There were six of them at the top of the Metrolink steps. They all know each other and work as a crew. It's like they own that lucrative spot on the edge of the Etihad Campus. Good luck to anyone who tries and sells half and half scarfs on their spot

Not a chance of b) in the last paragraph they've had 5 group games out of our wallets this year of which 4 were guaranteed

The pricing has been targeted to say the least (Inter £37.50, Prague £25, Feyenoord £25, Brugge £25 and Madrid £37.50) there's no way on earth they'd risk missing out on overcharging for games against the 'bigger' teams by bundling it all together, saying that they'd no doubt treat it as a reason to increase them lower priced games

Hmmm. This season is the first time I've been able to get tickets for the RM fixture for all three of us, and even then we weren't sat together. Few of my lads' mates from school in the region got tickets. The hype for us isn't seeing RM, it's because of the jeopardy it represents in the competition and the fact we go to all the home group games in earlier stages. Yet when you get to the ground you see rows of half and halves sitting with friends who may never have set foot in the ground. When you can only buy one ticket per member, are we really to believe that everyone in that group has a) a membership b) met the qualification c) been lucky enough to get seats all next to each other d) pulled off some incredible synchronised buying after all the season ticket holders in that row vanished?

This it when it becomes a fairness issue that isn't purely down to ST holders not attending - clearly via resellers, or some other means, people without track records of attending are able to get tickets in bunches that loyal and locals miss out on. I'd have no problem if this was a primary school or football club from Greater Manchester getting an experience. But when it's wealthy young people who aren't that bothered about the outcome, or even may be supporting the opposition, it indicates someone has been shafted by the process.

That said your b) scenario would not be desirable at all. Even though we do the early games the cup scheme does not work for me because of automatic debits and restrictions, which availability for early games doesn't justify to me. I believe the Rags make ST holders buy every ticket, which is just leading more and more depressed local ones to relist and stop going while holding on to their STs.

I've said this on another thread, but the only way anything will happen around this is if our dwindling cohort of maniacs continue filling in obnoxious away fans in our blocks, as happened Bash Street Kids style in block 306 last night. As long as stewards intervene it'll be reported back to the club and they'll realise they need to do something about it. You need away fans to be scared of sitting in our home ends - would you wear a Rangers shirt in the Celtic end or a Galatasaray in Fenerbahce? Exactly!

Maybe a cup season ticket is the way forward, target families & those who have fallen by the wayside, make it affordable, and it might just improve things regarding away fans in the home section, and one off tourists. You could then place those people on a waiting list for a season ticket if they haven’t got one already

Well the club should get onto metro then to stop them , ffs we give metrolink enough trade...and what about the traders all around the ground even on Joe Mercer Way.
