I've just been looking at the League table and have noticed some quite interesting facts regarding away form, I've gone as far down each list as needed to include the top 7:

Points away from home:

Chelsea - 31/51 - 61% - 1.82 points per game
United - 30/51 - 59% - 1.76 points per game
Arsenal - 28/48 - 58% - 1.75 points per game
Villa - 26/48 - 54% - 1.63 points per game
City - 25/51 - 49% - 1.47 points per game
Spurs - 23/48 - 48% - 1.44 points per game
Everton - 17/48 - 35% - 1.06 points per game
Stoke - 17/48 - 35% - 1.06 points per game
Birmingham - 17/51 - 33% - 1.00 points per game
Liverpool - 17/51 - 33% - 1.00 points per game

Goals scored away from home:

Arsenal - 31 - 1.94 goals per game
Chelsea - 32 - 1.88 goals per game
United - 32 - 1.88 goals per game
City - 31 - 1.82 goals per game
Spurs - 23 - 1.44 goals per game
Everton - 20 - 1.25 goals per game
Villa - 18 - 1.13 goals per game
Wolves - 18 - 1.13 goals per game
Birmingham - 18 - 1.13 goals per game
Wigan - 16 - 0.94 goals per game
Burnley - 15 - 0.88 goals per game
West Ham - 15 - 0.88 goals per game
Bolton - 14 - 0.88 goals per game
Sunderland - 14 - 0.82 goals per game
Liverpool - 14 - 0.82 goals per game

Goal Difference for away games:

Chelsea - +16 - +0.94 goals per game
United - +16 - +0.94 goals per game
Arsenal - +12 - +0.75 goals per game
City - +7 - +0.41 goals per game
Spurs - +1 - +0.06 goals per game
Villa - -1 - -0.06 goals per game
Everton - -4 - -0.25 goals per game
Liverpool - -6 - -0.35 goals per game

Makes pretty good reading considering our away form last season. Unbelievable how bad Liverpool have been, and it really surprised me that only 5 teams in the league have a positive goal difference away from home.

Don't forget Arsenal and Chelsea form will improve by the end of the week. I hope!

And Uniteds will get worse :)

We are unbeaten in our last 5 away games, with 3 wins and 2 draws, including Chelsea's 2nd home defeat in about 500 million games. That is almost unheard of for City. Combine that with our consistently excellent home form, and it's no wonder we are in the position we currently find ourselves in. It was always going to depend on improving our away form. Thankfully, we have done that at the business end of the season when it really counts.

This is very interesting...... although i worry you have far too much spare time lol ;-)

I knew someone would say that but I'm supposed to be revising / doing coursework so I find myself doing anything to avoid it.

All that maths and percentages sounds like homework to me ;-)

Me too but unfortunately I don't think my Introduction to Algebraic Geometry lecturer will let me off if I tell him I was doing this instead of deducing that the curves C and D are birationally equivalent. :(

Good god, like you're ever going to want to know that info in the future lol

Good luck with it :-)

What about the blue scouse game, though - the horrible 0-2 wasn't six matches ago, shirley.

Tell me about it, I've not learnt anything in 3 years that will come in handy in the future. I wish someone had told me that I should only do a Maths degree if I actually enjoyed it and found it interesting. Still at least I don't have to do a dissertation.

I think Pam was talking about the 2-0 away defeat to Everton, on January 16th, 7 away league games ago, just before the 2-1 defeat to Hull.

31 away league goals is the most City have scored in the top flight since 1967/68.

Excellent stat!

I spend half an hour formulating stats from the Premier League table and you like that stat! Typical.

;) Only joking, it is a brilliant statistic.

What these stats mean is simple. It's not a temporary run of good form, it's not a few flukey results, it means this - WE'VE ARRIVED. It took half a season, a few disappointing results and a change of manager to sort it out, but this is real. We'll finish strongly, although be prepared for a minor hiccup, we'll finish 4th, we'll make 3 or 4 quality signings and next season, we'll have a proper go at the title, because I've seen NOTHING in the Premiership this year that we should be afraid of.
