Away tickets limited due to standing????

I HATE sitting down at games, especially away games. Was doing my head in at the Chelsea game with all of our support sat on there arses! I ended up stood singing 'stand up if you love city' and no body stood up! our support is embarrassing.

Don't do that at West Brom. Saw a lad get nicked just for doing that there. And his mate got nicked as well for trying to reason with the coppers to let him go. Like someone else said, authorities are ruining the game - think they would prefer we all sat at home and watched in on Sky.

Interesting that for the Stoke away game they sent out that note with the tickets about persistent stadning not allowed. Then thankfully they never made any attempt to enforce it.

Getting this petition going. Since it's going to No. 10 it's actually getting read by somebody.

This isn't the first time we've been given a reduced allocation there.

This is how Sunderland FC's safety manager tried to justify it last time:

"Until they (i.e. the regulatory authorities, which basically means a little-known Government quango called the Football Licensing Authority http://www.flaweb.org.uk ) actually present evidence that persistent standing is not inherently dangerous I have no option but to enforce Ground Regulation 9 and to abide by the instructions of my Safety Advisory Group and put in place ‘buffer zones’ to attempt to mitigate against the possibility of ‘domino effect’ crowd surges whilst standing. This in turn means a reduction in allocation".

and

"When this club is asked by the Safety Advisory Group to reduce the allocation to away supporters we allow this on safety grounds. What I have done in the past is to ensure that 2 seats surrounding the away fans and 2 rows at the front are left empty for 2 reasons:
A person who stands takes up more room than those that sit and therefore tend to block the aisles therefore leaving these 2 seats empty mitigates this.
2 front rows empty could help mitigate the domino effect.
Doing this reduces the capacity from 3200 to 2700".

So according to them standing is "inherently dangerous". Well, so is crossing the road, so they'll stop us doing that? And strange that football stadiums in Germany have actually been designed to accommodate standing areas. And that people at rock concerts in football stadiums in this country are allowed to stand.

It's bullsh*t.

Sunderland Council's report is here. They shouldn't worry too much this time though as I don't think they'll have many City fans in their ground on Saturday 13th March.....!

It wont stop it it will just drive supporters away. When will they get the message. Between the authorities and the FA they are killing the game.

I would suspect that every away crowd at every stadium stands for the majority of the 90mins.

I'm not for stuffing Sunderland's coffers but they have lost out here.

The authorities decide that they have to do something and they come up with this. I cannot see what the issue is if people are standing in the seat space.

wtf?

thats bull isnt it?

you can get way more people into a space standing than sitting

wont be impressed if we're made to sit at the game

We had a reduced allocation at Sunderland last year, exactly the same as this.

I don't know why people are kicking off, we won't sell out anyway, we took 1700 last year FFS and that wasn't on the box.

The thread is as surreal as the 'we can't get tickets for away games' threads.
