| Football | Author: Editorial Staff The Manchester City will not let go his hold on Aymeric Laporte but expects developments from Bilbao to close the deal within the week. The agreement with the footballer's no time for a five-year contract, but expects the final okay to pay the clause of 65 million Euros and close the transaction. Remain to file legal matters between the French and Basque club, with the agent of the player that is being discussed at this time. Virtually details for a task so important economically. But Man City wants to be quiet, so waiting for the final okay from Bilbao to make his final attack and give early as January the defender Pep Guardiola

I won't translate the entire article but a less shit translation would basically read that the we expect to close the deal within the week. Have a agreement for a five year contract with the player and we expect to pay the full 65mm release clause. Only remaining issue at this point is paperwork and Laporte's agent is working with Bilbao to get it done. City have kept the whole thing quiet and are waiting for the final ok.

Those United fans likening this to Sanchez in terms of money we will pay and shouting hypocrisy.

When will they get the point.

We did not pull out of the Sanchez deal because they outbid us. Had we wanted to we would have matched them.

We pulled out because those economics made no sense and because Sanchez played us off against another team and basically said he would go where the fee was highest.

As proven in our statement that the door was open to him if he accepted the terms agreed and put WHERE he went ahead of WHAT he was paid to do so.

Had Sanchez stayed at Arsenal to June we may well have gone back then and paid more from the sum saved on the transfer fee.

But it was all about perceived worth of signing him and his desire to play for Pep and not his bank account.

Laporte is a different situation at the moment. His deal is worth more investment because of age and relative immediate need to the squad for the next decade. Sanchez was a much overpriced short term solution to a problem we really do not have.

Unless he starts acting like Sanchez did then there is no comparison. Staying where he was and giving up what would have been greater wages to come here was likely viewed by Pep in a very different light to someone prioritising greed over football.

Oh no. The cat is out of the bag now and this kid had a dream when he was a kid that he would play for United....he has always wanted to play at the Theatre that will help him live this dream....not only that, he could never turn down playing for Maureen, especially as a defender! He can even play This is how it feels on his electric piano.....

I don’t like the smell of this one.
