if we are looking at bringing back denayer and buying in both laporte and stones then for me that looks like pep is going to play with three at the back next season.
Or he could be getting rid of 2 of the current 3 CBs. Or playing Denayer at RB.

maybe yeah, although i don't see denayer as a long term right back, but who knows.

i think demichelis will leave and mangala will go on loan like he was rumoured to be last summer. i just cannot see us taking a huge loss on him so i think we will loan him out and hope he plays well enough to get us a decent transfer fee in the future.

I still can't see Pep building his defence around Kompany. I think the only people doing it are City fans. I don't see why he'd risk it - He knows he'll only get half a season out of him and a stable partnership is paramount in that position. You can never guarantee any new signings will either be less injury prone or even any good, but you can certainly pretty much guarantee we're not going to get even 40+ games out of Kompany.

I can't say i have seen much of this kid and therefore will not pass judgement on him, but i hope we don't end up signing him for the reason that for me he is too young for what we want. If Kompany is missing all the time through injury next season, we want a player who has the experience to lead the backline, a more commanding figure similar to Kompany, ala Mats Hummels. A player for instance who has played in a World Cup final, Champions League final and done it on every level. Laporte might turn out to be an amazing centre back, but i kind of get the feeling that this transfer will be a HUGE gamble and one we should not be prepared to make at this moment in time.

Mats Hummels would be my first choice by an absolute distance.

For what you're describing I like Leonardo Bonucci over Hummels. Though Hummels is pretty good too.
