Out of interest mate, I know you are his biggest champion on here, lol, but since when were you an avid fan of watching Bilbao play?

Mendy, Laporte and Maffeo are unproven in England.

Tosin may not be good enough.

Stones makes too many errors at present to be considered as one of the first names on our team sheet.

Danilo is a good utility player but suspect defensively.

If Kompany is finished, I think we might need some more defensive reinforcements.

This will be an interesting one. Snubbed us when still recovering from an ankle injury and probably didn’t feel ready to leave the family environment that Bilbao is as a club. At his age I can understand despite being disappointed at the time as he looked like a great defender. Since he has been unable to regain form for a while and not able to get in go the French national team. This season he is back to his old self being an amazing talent that however will need time to gel in at club and country. So it’ll be interesting to see if Pep can get the player fit in quickly and let him perform to the standards that will bring him WC election. As that would only benefit our team whatever way you look at it.

don't watch as much since he snubbed us to be honest. ddn't want it rubbing in my face lol. when I have watched him play he's impressed. please don't laugh but his timing in the tackle is the best I've seen since Bobby Moore. hope the injury haxn't took too much away. if not we have a bargain.

I just don't know HTF we're where we are with that bunch of deadbeats. Good job the rest can turn a shift!

I get the feeling you are very excited and pleased about this signing then mate,I hope he has an injury free career with us for many years
 
I didn’t mean to imply our defence is poor. I merely believe we will need to make further additions in this area over the next three years.

I have to say unless you are very young with England call ups might not make you a good player but lack of call ups tend to make you a pretty ordinary one.
Not to bothered here because of Umtiti and his injury eighteen months back.

I think I read the same report you're talking about and my response to said report is: if your paying for a young player who's highly rated, high potential whatever, of course they are going to have a lot of improving to do. He has all the current attributes that Pep likes and he will coach up what he needs to work on. He's not going to Jose who will banish him from the line up until he magically figures it out. As I've said in previous posts, Deschamps/France is the wrong national team to use when discussing why a player does or doesn't have an international cap. Also despite what all the new English experts around social media are saying about Laporte, his price is relative to how important he was to the team as it's hard to replace him within their basque only structure so they didn't want to lose him cheaply. That's why they're immediately triggering our other target Martinez's release clause to soften the blow.
