Interesting that we had probably only Kompany who many would consider in our best defence. Missing Zab or Micah, Lescott, Bridge.

Silvinho has been roundly slated. Toure as well. And Ned well he has been out a lot with injuries.

Add to that Vieira who has recieved a lot of stick on this forum and it has to be said this was far from our best eleven.

Therefore the win yesterday was very impressive.

Perhaps we are becoming a bit like Barca. Tongue firmly in cheek.

You can change the players but the system remains the same.

we certainly didnt have our strongest defence out but then again it was brunley and they have been dog shite for the last few months. 6-1 win makes everyone happy.

To be fair, when you score three goals in the first ten minutes of a match against a team like Burnley who are so low in confidence, you can be pretty sure your defenders are going to have a very easy match.

Huge credit has to go to Mancini for this actually. Whilst his endless training on maintaining shape must be dull as f*ck for the players, but it does mean that the ability of each individual is far less important than before, when we were defending as individuals. Keep the shape and everyone is covering everyone else, it doesn't take one mistake to concede, it takes 2 or 3.

Sylvinho is a class player he is so comfortable with the ball at his feet and picking out passes, They only thing that lets him down is his pace but what else could you expect from a 36 yr old :)

I thought Ned did well yesterday, I know he had very little to do but the things he had to do he did well, Id like to see him getting a run of games he's a good defender.

To be fair, we could have picked 4 members of Bluemoon at random and had them as our back 4 yesterday and still won convincingly.

Still needs some reinforcing.

RB: New signing, Micah, Zabaleta
CB: Lescott, Kompany, Onuoha, Boyata, new signing
LB: New signing, Bridge, Garrido or other new signing as third choice

Sell: Toure

I'd be hoping that both Micah and Nedum could be developed alongside 'The Business' and our most expensive defensive signing, along with our other defensive members of our squad into an effective cohesive group.

Although we might be back in the market very shortly for more players, what we have in raw ability, youth, and capability I do not believe is too far off the mark.

Rome's fortifications weren't built in a day.

they played well yesterday but our strongest back four is
richards- on his day hes one of the best rb in the country lescott kompany bridge

Completely disagree. In my opinion, Toure is the best defender that we have at the club, though I understand this isn't shared by the majority. I just have a thing for defenders who bring the ball out though, and positionally, I very rarely see Toure put a foot wrong.

My ideal back 4 would be:

Onuoha/Richards------Kompany------Lescott------Bridge

In my view Zab is head and shoulders above Ned and Micah. He's the only one of the three who can play football. People are quick to forgive Neds mistakes that have lead to goals but they remember every free kick that Zab gives away even though they result in nothing.

zaba is a better midfielder

I think we've got the players for a decent back four, the problem has been we've not had a settled one.
Think we've used 20 diff combinations and not kept the same 4 for more than 3 consecutive matches..!

^^^ this!

I'd rather have an attacking midfield play maker before another defender; our defense needs a little more time as much as anything else; although so many on here love to criticize our players and tear them to pieces.
