Backing Hughes for a change.

A great article in the Daily Mail, see link

Basically stating that we as a club need to get behind Hughes. The players are the ones not responding.

It's an article that will fuel some debate. If these so called players are not up for the challenge they should be shipped out. Would be interested in some comments.

Spot-on in a nutshell, as soon as the squad is full of players of the likes of Kompany, Zaba, SWP and the imminent RSC, i'll be more than happy. The centre-halves are the big problem for me, as we desperately need defenders that can defend, and the current crop don't fit the bill. We'll know more in a week.

1st time on...

Give him the money to strengthen...

Feb, should confirm if he's made any real impact at the club ...

in ... Jimmy 'iron balls' Bullard (buy British beef)

out ... TBH.. a good professional, but too many mistakes.

Expectations may be sky high at Eastlands but Ribery's recent rejection ... indicates top pro's don't see it the same.

I've wobbled all over the place on this one.

I didn't like the idea of a Red in charge in the first place, but respected him as a player and manager.

I think he was wrong to stick with the'one up front' system, wnen most of our goals were coming from midfielders and he seemed to be allowing seven attackers in every game, leaving us open at the back, which explains our high tally of goals for and against.

Looking back, though, I wonder how many of our problems have been caused by players' disobedience of MHs instructions. At times, before injuries halved the squad, limiting his first team options, they played, individually, some of the best football I've seen since the early seventies, but then we got the injuries which gave any disgruntled players much more power in the dressing room.

From what I can gather, discipline and graft are at the heart of MHs philosophy, but this will never suit every player, particularly those who are very highly rated/priced and he's not yet had the chance to bring in replacements to suit his methods.

Expensive players can get managers sacked, can't they!

I've seen the betting odds on possible replacements and the list is frightening; they've got Souness in there for God's sake!!

If only to protect us from Player Power and Souness, lets support MH!

For once the majority should stand up in full support of the manager and his staff.most these players who they had nothing to do with signing have done very well out of the takeover, and performance wise have gone backwards.i for one will be telling any hughes out chanters what i think of them.

Souness took Blackburn to 10th & 6th in the Premier League playing hoofball instead of football. He was also renowned for falling out with players. There's no way we'd want someone like that in charge at our club is there?

Oh.

All very sensible. But there's a but.

How long would you let this continue before you thought "Oh shit we are going to get relegated, we are going to have to sack Hughes and get someone else in to save us QUICK".

Would you leave it until after 25 games? 30? 35? New manager with 3 games to go?

Or do you just sink down into the water, saluting, singing the dambusters march until there's only bubbles on the surface?

That's assuming a new manager woudl change things with the current squad.

This idea that we're going to get relegated all of a sudden when we are 'still' within touching distance of the top half, means that even those with new managers ie Spurs could say the same thing ie if Spurs are still in relegation trouble do they get rid of Redknapp. If we look like we are going to get relegated with 3 games to go do we then replace the new manager with a new manager ?

If a squad or team isn't good enough then I believe it doesn't matter who the manager is you will go down. Do I think we are the third worst in the division ? No.

Reading went down with Steve Coppell is he a crap manager or a good manager because they look like they may get automatic promotion this year ? Is the Birmingham manager Alex McCleish a good manager or a bad manager, after all he won pots of stuff at Rangers but took Birmingham down and they look like they could get promoted again.

Is it any surprise that the team running away with the Championship is Wolves who have stuck with Mick McCarthy.

Is Steve Bruce a clueless manager because he took Birmingham down or a good one because he kept Wigan up ?

At the end of the day the three worst teams will go down. Of course a manager can influence the relative success of a side but he can't make a bad side a good one. How do most managers improve a poorly performing side ? They get their players and personnell in. Judge Hughes once has had had chance to that. Do I think we are the third worst team in the division, definitely not. Do I think we will be the third worst team when we have strenghthened in January. Definitely not !

Stop panicking and for f*cks sake back the manager because there's one thing that is certain the more we keep this negativity going the more likely it is that results won't pick up and I assume you do want results to pick up ?

I was asking a serious question.

Is there any point in this season at which you would say OK let's change the manager? Or would you back the manager right until the end, even if it meant us being relegated?

If the answer to that is yes I'd back him to the end, then what about the Championship? Would you be OK still backing him as we get relegated from the Championship into League 1?

You get my point. As some stage there has to be a moment when you way things up and say "Sorry X - whoever the manager is - but that's just not good enough and we want a different manager".

Now of course none of this may happen. We may shoot up the table over coming weeks and finish 5th. (I pray). We could even win the FA cup. We could stick with MH and come 3rd next year and win the PL the year after. Who knows.

My question is - if it continues as it is - when do you say "enough is enough"? For me, we are either there already, or will be come end of Jan if it carries on.

I could stand the results if things were generally going well with good spirit and good football. But the whole thing is a complete crock at the moment which makes me less forgiving of the results.
