Abso-bloody-lutely.... talented footy manager ? Yup
Role model as a human being (ie the chivalrous knightly qualities so admired in England , for which he presumably won his knighthood).... errrr ................

The guy has spent top dollar since he joined United and has been instrumental in inflating transfer fees to the level we see today. He has always been able to outbid everyone else (until now) and his tenure has coincided with the emergence of the money spinning European league. In effect, unlike the great Liverpool managers and Cloughie he has achieved his success at a time when there has been at best two teams and at worst only one other team competing. It has been the equivalent of winning the Scottish League.
What's more, the fact that he has won so few European Cups during that time is shocking. At least that has now been reduced to a two team league too so he should puick up a few more now !
He did earn that money by winning stuff, also he got half the money back, not bad for all the money he bought in.Pam said:Dave S said:This all day long!
And when we spend loads of dosh, we're ruining football and trying to buy trophies whereas when Fergies shells out 30 million squids for the likes of Veron, it's team building.
Fuck off, Fergie.
Wow, I thought Liverpool fans were thick.mancitygaz said:He has spent a fortune and walked into a youth team that will never be seen again in terms of players that have made the top level and stayed there

Could not give a flying fornicate about that because the Sheikh's money is every bit as good as Fergie's money and there's lots more of it. Which isn't to say he's not the best.

Why? Scholes, Giggs, chuckle brothers, Beckham to name but a few, were all their when baconface arrived, not a bad bunch to have coming up through the ranksWhitworth warrior said:Wow, I thought Liverpool fans were thick.mancitygaz said:He has spent a fortune and walked into a youth team that will never be seen again in terms of players that have made the top level and stayed there
Sorry Pam, but I've seen the 5th team SAF has for the futurePam said:Whitworth warrior said:Oil, footy, long live cold fusion.
That was a good point you made, about the fluke youth team. It helped a lot and for a very long time.
dan.j.mcfc said:Let's be sensible here, you cant argue that bacon face is not a good manager. Now as much i personally despise the arrogant twat, his trophy haul is something that i don't think we will see beaten for a very very long time. However he managed to achieve it, is not really the point is it. It's what you win that matters and to compare him to other managers he's miles ahead.
Having said that "WERE HAVING A PARTY WHEN FERGIE DIES" :)[/quote
He is a Football fan, I'm glad he loved us.
the rest is up to you.
ColinBellsjockstrap said:OK,
I don't think even the most ardent City fan could argue that Sir Alex is the greatest manager the game has ever seen, I don't think his tally of trophies will ever be equalled, by anybody, remember he was successful at Aberdeen as well, and most of his former players have respected him, even if they have been on the wrong side of the famous hairdryer..... Also, you have got to admire his work ethic.
So, to get to the point.
I think, where he falls down big style is in post match interviews, if United have been soundly beaten, it does not matter who by, he hardly EVER gives the opposing team the credit, it's always "We were unlucky"," The ref was terrible", We wore the wrong colour kit" etc, etc.
Anyone else thought this?

breaking up the Glasgow dominance winning a UAFA cup with Aberdeen mostly with local talent
not many European cup wins in Scotland,
it was the first ever European cup, League winners and FA cup treble in history,
plus his local charitable work which is over looked by everybody.
