Hi all,

Just thought I would seek your collective wisdom.

I live in a 2 bed flat, nice area, lots of families live on site. All decent, considerate folk. Been a nice place to live for a few years now.

A couple have moved in upstairs. On site we don't have music on after 2300 because a) there are little tots trying to sleep and b) everyone works so most have early starts.

Anyway, this new couple are a right pair of inbred scally wags. I started noticing that they were playing thud-thud-thud music late on last weekend, but I don't mind so much on a fri/sat night. Try to cut them a bit of slack. Last night however it went off massively. There was a massive screeching fight. They were so loud I could hear the whole conversation. Plates smashing, furniture flying, and in the end he had a clawed eye gash and she had a busted up nose. They really are a complete train wreck. Inconsiderate, rude, no self control, no hope really of reasoning with them.

The problem is what to do about it. The way things are set up in this country I get the impression we are a bit stuck.

1/ I could speak to them, but the way they conduct themselves you get the firm impression they don't care about anyone but themselves and would likely take offence at the notion that they could possibly be in the wrong at all.

2/ mention it to the letting agency. I don't know if it's the same company that operates all the apartments but if they are in breach of the terms of living here then perhaps that would give some leverage in getting shut of them.

I'm almost tempted to refuse to pay my rent until they are either gone or stop being noisy. I feel like it shouldn't be my problem, I pay rent and I'm not getting any peace here at the moment so you couldn't call it a home.

Anyone had any similar experiences?

Cheers,

Try the above, and if that fails threaten them.

That's what I'm thinking. I mean I'd rather sort it out sensibly, but if I'm out of other options I'll have to.
