Joke or not, Some of the reactions to subs last year is caused by threads like this.

I agree but I seriously don't consider Viera a player more of a coach where running is minimal

TBH I think Viera himself wont need reminding where is weaknesses currently lie, he just needs to be clever and change his game to adapt. Something scholes and giggs have had to do. Personally I think he's their for Mancini's eyes & ears within the team, but throw away comments by the OP arent needed

Fucking hell Dave, you utterly, utterly miss the point about Viera's role. Viera doesn't need speed and doesn't need skill. His entire job on the pitch is to make short passes, keep the ball and win it back when needed. He isn't there to make huge gaping runs forwards or backwards, he's there to patrol a single area of the pitch and most importantly, keep possession.

Makelele also was slow as shit, couldn't pass more than five yards, had crap vision, couldn't head and couldn't really shoot. However, he was good enough that the same job as Viera that they've now termed it the "Makelele role"

Vieira's inclusion in the squad brings invaluable experience. Whilst he;s not the leggy box to box destroyer of old, he can help the rest learn how to take the game by the scruff of the neck.

The last two seasons, we have been toothless in a hell of a lof games. We've been dominated in midfield by many many sides, a good few of them that have nowhere near the squad we do.

Vieira has been part of a team that when a whole PL seaosn unbeaten. You can't buy experience like that and that's why he's here!!

Give him a break for fucks sake. Kompany, Barry and now Vieira.

Kompany and Barry are important squad members.

Vieira is an old man who can't run and can't impose himself on a game.
i take it you were not at the villa home game last season ?

in all fairness to Dave one game doesn't justify his 100k a week does it? I personally think he would be better of as a coach, he's just taking up a position a youngster like Ibrahim could jump into.

Well in all fairness Robinho gets the same treatment and he has contributed a lot more in his City career then Viera has done. People will prob say because Viera hasn't opted to leave for somewhere else but lets be honest where else would pay 100k a week for Viera???????
