Bale

I know it'd be a pricey move but in return we'd get a winger who could actually cross and hopefully take some momentum from Spurs' current form.

not a cat in hells chance they would sell him to us (or anyone), and certainly not at a price which would be realistic under FFP

Never seems to do it in the big big games ! Ok did it v milan but i cant remember him runnin a game since ??? An for the price we could buy nearly anyone

50m should do it. I genuinely would be interested to see whether that much would get him to be fair...

I think Bale would rather have the experience of playing abroad if he does leave Spurs though so I do think it's unlikely on many accounts.

I'm probably in a minority of one, but I would prefer Bale to Ronaldo.
If we could ignore FFP, maybe a thirty million plus a permanent move for Addie bid would get Harry twitching a little.
Plus the usual two million in an off-shore account !!

A cheeky bid before we play them might wind them upWould be worth the comedy before Harry has his court appearance Offer the Adebayor as part of the deal

I don't watch a lot of Spurs so I might be completely wrong and if so, perhaps one of the Spurs lads can put me right.
I see Bale's form as completely hit and miss. He's fantastic one game and then average for the next 2 or 3.
For the money I don't want him. I think he's overpriced and overrated.

But when he's on form, he can win matches.

I don't think there is a winger/wide forward in a 4-3-3 that has absolutely consistent form. A lot of it is about playing the odds and sometimes it just doesn't come off. Bale has average games now and then but who doesn't? Ronaldo was pretty damn ineffective against Malaga the other day in the Copa del ray for example.

Some people seem to cling on to the belief that Bale is massively over-rated and is living off the Inter hatrick (not accusing you of this Stony, just in general) the longer people believe that the better for Spurs I guess!

As for the price, he's got about four years left on his contract and is 22, this also being the january transfer window would put his value up to 50m or so, there's no chance Levy would break up this squad when having a chance on the title unless it was the kind of money that would secure long term future ie stadium plans and such. Unless an absolutely ridiculous offer comes in he will not be leaving.

-- Thu Jan 12, 2012 1:41 pm --

Offer Johnson + Nedum + Adebayor for him.

Bale would be perfect for us, infact with Silva he would be frightening.

Could we swap Ben Alnwick for Hart whilst we're at it please? He's great at teamwork you know...

That right there is why I think he's overrated and overpriced. £50M for Bale ? Not a chance.
I know they are not comparable as players but is he really worth two David Silva's ? I know you'll counter that with one and a half Andy Carroll's but I still don't see Bale worth anything approaching £50M.
I'd take a punt at £30M but I'd be expecting him to pull up trees for that sort of cash.

Contracts and circumstances make so much difference to a player's fee. Right now he is massively important to us, and very young and we are having one of our best spells in the premier league since it's beginning (and as we know that's when football started anyway ;) ). In January as well which puts another ten mil on it. Levy is also known to get maximum value for his players as well. Liverpool and Chelsea haven't made it easy, throwing massive amounts of money at average players.

I don't think he'll move to City anyway to be honest. If he's going move anywhere it'll be Barca or Madrid, and hopefully that won't happen too soon.

Great player, said it all along. Even when he was Spurs' unlucky charm I could tell there was something there. Mancini would love him I'm sure, especially as we don't really have much on the left-hand side, but the transfer fee would be too high when we could get other highly promising wingers for less. Putting Adebayor into a deal might offer some temptation but only if they fail to make the CL which is looking more and more unlikely.

Who do you think you should go for?

Seems the speculation about Redmond has died down a bit, he could probably do with more time in the championship to be fair. Would you want a genuine left sided player?
