Because he's a giant risk and they know it. They can go on all they want about potential and how it's great value and how Rodgers is the only manager in the whole world who could tame him but deep down they know he is a huge risk and if it doesn't pay off they don't want him leeching them for 5 years. Personally I think he's going to be a huge flop. His goal scoring record in the Prem was shit anyway and he didn't pull up any trees this season for Milan either. Add a few red cards and more stupid shit off the pitch and the dippers will soon turn on him.

The other thing about the length of contract is that £16m over three years doesn't really look like great value.

What are you talking about? All four of our strikers are more productive than Balotelli has ever been, and we don't need Fabregas as we have Yaya and Silva.
