Which ? The one where he shot, Aguero headed the rebuond & Silva scored ? That assist ?

And people are seriously using Fletcher, Michu & Lukaku in half a season as a barometer for what is acceptable for the champions of england over 2 and a half seasons ? Seriously ?

He has 9 assists in all competitions for City. 10 if you include the penalty he won at Spurs as an assist.

Tbf I should have been clear I am talking about the league (as cup games are often against weakened teams) & no I wouldn't include winning penalties as assists.

4 in the league.

Your reaching their m8 that was a shot the fact that it rebounded to silva was fortuitous .

Brilliant, so a shot which was to hot for the keeper to handle which meant Silva had a tap in, similar to his involvement in the Lopes goal v Watford, doesn't count now?

Anyway, for people to say he's not had an impact since he's been here are just kidding themselves, forgetting the semi, 6-1,and Qpr, his goals last season v Spurs, Everton, Sunderland, were as important as anybody elses.

None of the above goals came in comprehensive wins, they were key, crucial goals.

I'm not. I'm using them as examples why judging a player based on the number of assists they get is a bit silly.

Oh come on.

You are more intelligent than that. You know that this is a valid point.

Mario is a self centred character & the fact he doesn't very often pass to set up any of his team mates for a goal fits that.

It's nowhere near good enough.

I'm not a Mario hater. I'd rather he got his shit together but the fact is he has been pretty ineffective & even counter effective on some occasions

This is a plain fact & it proves he hasn't contributed as he should.

If he stays now, it needs to change or he needs to go.

It doesn't count as an assist no.

Do you not think he should pass to his team mates occasionally & give them the odd goal ? That is unfair ? You think it's normal ?

-- Tue Jan 29, 2013 11:25 am --

Then either the stats I read are wrong or yours are.

It's not an irrelevant stat but the assist stat isn't an accurate measure of a persons ability to contribute to the team. Chances created is a better one, but even then it depends on so many factors that you can't just look at the stat and make a judgement of a player because of it.

Remember the 1-6 match, Silva got (I think) 1 assist but to me had a key involvement in 4 or 5 of our goals.

I would agree that if he stays he needs to contribute to the team more, and improve in a number of areas. But I wouldnt go as far as to call an assist stat a disgrace.

Which one this season ?

v Fulham at Craven Cottage

btw he would have had one at the Hawthorns last season too had Aguero not been marginally offside.

Re: Balotelli (continued)

Mario has some ability, no doubt. The fact that he seldom shows it is frustrating and frankly useless to us. Thanks for the few memories Mario but go and be a self obssessed kid somewhere else. I cannot see him fulfilling his potential even at AC, but let them worry about that.

Re: Balotelli (continued)

If we lose a few million from the sale of Balotelli, I say, SO WHAT !

The few notable contributions that he did make, helped in taking City to the next level - yes we do still have quite a way to go yet !

...and for sure, our lives are much richer for the "Balotelli Experience"
